JVC HR-XV31 DVD Player / VCR Combo

JVC kit does not always get the best of notices, but I have had more or less trouble free service for well over 10 years. Recently my combo player crashed (it only cost about £30 in 2001 and lasted 8 years) so I wanted to replace it as nearly identical as possible to minimise rewiring complications (I'm a bit of a dipstick on the wiring up situation and even more important, my wife is paranoid about excessive and exposed wiring in and around the TV/Video/Sky set-up...She's not alone I suspect!). And so to ebay where, to my great surprise, there were a couple of suitable models on offer. So for a princely £23 and a bit of postage I have replaced, it more less, like for like. The replacement was a slightly superior model (although still 5-6 years obsolete) and functions perfectly - the wiring was a doddle, in fact tidier as it happened, so we are all happy. What was very helpful was that the vendors of the possible replacements were so co-operative in sending extra pictures of the reverse of the units so that I could work out precisely whether and how the unit could fit into my set-up to satisfy both my 'dipstick' status and my wife's paranoia. All in all a very satisfactory experience.
