JBL Grand Touring GT412 Car Subwoofer

It is big and nice looking, could sound absolutley awsome...only problem is i havnt the first idea of how to put it in my car

At under £30 the GT4 offers exceptional value for money.

Build quality is decent and most importantly, as has been proven, they can quite happily take 400 wrms of power as long as you don't send the sub a distorted signal... The reviewer below who claims to be on his 5th sub clearly needs to set up his gains correctly.

The sub will work happily in 1 cuft sealed and will sound musical and punchy, however, the GT4 works very well in ported boxes.

The subwoofer comes with a ported box design in the instructions...this is okay, but in my opinion tunes the sub to high. If you can, get someone who knows how to design sub boxes and get a box built that is tuned to around 33-5 hz with a 2 cuft internal volume. This will be a world of difference in terms of output and sheer low down grunt in comparison to the sealed box.

One other thing, don't be snobby about the JBL brand name and ignore the idiots who tell you that JBL equipment is rubbish. I've tested a hell of alot of subwoofers over the years and can say that this is definitely not the case.

No other sub provides such an excellent all round performance at this price level.

i bought these because there a quality sub and a good price and produce a good deep bass line you wont be dissapointed with the gt4-12 at all

excellent sub, amazing sound would highly reccommend it! with 250w rms it is loud enough for any car.

Excellent sub, i had 2 in a twin box and they sound great, loads of deep bass making my car rattle, i would recommend these to anyone who is looking to buy a cheap enough sub.

Oh for the guy who says hes on his 5th sub, im running my 2 subs of a 2400 watts amp and the gain set at about 1 quater the way and i have no problems, u must have your gain all the way up, which is a no no because you will blow your sub like that you only need it set at half way max.

Anyway i would recommend these subs 5 out of 5!!

Brilliant power handling, great sound...well worth the price.

Just make sure to get a suitable box to get the very best from these subs.

Gives a very loud deep bass.
Works well in an enclosed box.
Seems to distort when using a tube enclosure as bass isnt as deep.
Would recommend to other buyers

If you are looking for a good budget subwoofer that packs a good punch then this series of subwoofers is for you! whether it be the 10,12 or 15 inch subs

Since I started to get into the realms of car audio upgrades, I have done a little bit of research, and this is one of the names that kept popping up with recomendations.
JBL is owned by same company that make Infinity, who as everyone knows is a trusted brand in car audio.
The sub itself is well made, has a good quality feel to it, not only this but the cone itself seems to be pretty well sprung and responsive.
I chose to mount this sub in a custom made 35 litre box made from 18mm mdf, though this is a little too big for the sub it sounds well, even though it is slightly underpowered running on about 150w RMS from an Alpine MRD M300 and previously a Vibe Blackbox 1, it still makes my little S2 peugeot 106 rattle!

All in all for the price you pay for this sub it performs well, hits hard and I simply wouldnt have anything else, despite what some say about JBL, This sub in my opinion is a steal and worth every penny for someone looking to install a budget audio system that performs well, especially when coupled with a good set of amplified componant speakers, with cross overs and tweeters
