OK .... I grew up with Iron man, so I know the story, from its beginnings
BUT .....
The beauty of this film that you just don't need to know anything about the Super Hero. It's all explained in the film.
The acting, storyline, humour and SPFX is just great.
I cannot fault it at all, and I'm a HUGE film buff, having watched tens of thousands of films.
The planned follow up just HAS to be better.
You'd be mad to miss this one. It has ALL the hallmarks of a lasting great film. I've shown it 5 times to different people, and I'm still not bored. Action and fun all the way.
Highly recommended to all.

Fantastic film!!! - This is probably one of the best films i have watched ever......I love the marvel movies and when i saw this i came out of the cinema a very happy lady! must see...I rate it up there with transformers and rambo for action. Its really clever and on for about 2hrs 20mins so you get your moneys worth. Its so good that i bought it on blu-ray after christmas. Buy it!! ;0)

Come back Robocop all is forgiven. Although some of the visual effects were quite stunning, unfortunately the film suffered from numerous visual effects being Over-The-Top. The sound quality was poor with the dialogue difficult to make out at times and that's viewing the blu-ray disc version. However, the Black Sabbath "Iron man track" at the end of the film is worthy of a mention.

What with the glut of super hero movies that have been released recently this would have to be pretty special to make it stand out from the growing crowd. Although this is a good film there is nothing in it that is extra to the standard super hero movie check list.....quirky lead character - check, unobtainable romantic interest - check, dramatic fight scenes - check, good quality visuals and sound - err hang on. The visual effects are as good as can be expected however watching this on my TV, a decent enough modern LCD without cinema surround sound, it was sometimes difficult to hear what was being said. Most of the sound track was fine but some of the conversations dropped into the hearing range of my pet dog and I couldn't hear a thing. Perhaps it was just me or the TV set-up but it was annoying.
Overall a good super hero movie but nothing to make it stand out from Spiderman and the Incredible Hulk et al. As such it gets an average mark for an average modern super hero movie.

Brilliant film with amazing special effects. I wanted this film on DVD as i saw it at the cinema and thought it was brilliant and knew i wanted to see ita again and again. One of the best superhero films this century!

Another fantastic comic book hero film. Brilliantly portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.
Iron Man is very exciting in places with awesome explosions and great one liners. It will also make you laugh out loud when Iron Man is trying to create perfect the suit.
Great fun for kids and adults alike. Very recommended.
Single DVD has some deleted/extended scenes, but the 2 disc DVD has a load of extra extras, which are marvellous.

) GREAT movie... if you love action and sci-fi and a tiny bit of good old fashioned fantasy this is a great gem.
Even though i never really read the comics, when i saw this i knew i had to see it... some guy in a suit that does more than what Kitt from Knight rider and airwolf put together? Gotta have some of that.
Great casting, and great scenes. nothing too hard to follow. but still makes you think! :)
no doubt someone is attempting to build a replica somewhere... or have am i a bit slow?
5/5 movie. Good bit o'fun.
Bought it on Ebay due to low price and as a present to myself for all my hard work at uni...

I grew up with Marvel Comics and though not a great fan of the character, I found this is one of the better attempts at transfering a Marvel Superhero to the big screen.The technology is kept believable within the given storyline, established characters are given their due, and kept reasonably intact.
The film mixes humour in with the action, making it suitable for younger viewers, but with enough adult themes for the older ones too. Though quite slow to build up, once moving the pace keeps even younger viewers watching. Some of the supporting characters are a little one dimensional but the promise of a sequel and/or an Avengers movie to follow may give them a chance to come into their own.
Speaking of which, watch the titles to the very end to see an extra scene foreshadowing the next movie, that ties in with the scene at the end of the 2nd Hulk film.

Iron Man DVDIt was an interesting story line. The good versus bad - guess who won! The special effects were quite good. If your into Cyber comics, Robocop, Transformers and Superman then you'll probably love it. Think it interested my sons more than me. Thought the loyal trustworthy Miss Pepper was great.

Based on yet another Marvel series, Iron Man has plenty of things going for it, the main assets being an enjoyably sardonic Robert Downey, his hardware, and the downturned mouth of his new metal visage - a warning that this self-styled messiah means business....
The brilliance of Downey's performance is that Tony Stark is more of an impenetrable, unstoppable force than Iron Man. The film is smart, action-packed, sexy and fun...visual effects are bound to give you goose bumps and maybe you'll find yourself uttering an audible "whoa."
The only apprehension in my opinion is it suffers from an increasingly oppressive structure that ultimately negates the film's positive attributes...even so in this politically incorrect world it’s easily the best Marvel film, and quite possibly the best superhero film I have ever seen!!!

I like Robert Downey Jnr, and liked the storyline, so I bought this film, which tells the story of a worldly-wise American arms manufacturer who changes his attitude to the impact of weaponry on world peace, when he falls foul of power-mad extremist who has bought some of his weapons via corrupt management in his own company. He escapes from captivity in the nick of time by agreeing to make weapons for them, but makes this powered 'Iron Man' suit while they somehow don't notice, battling his way out, and trys from then on to be a peace-maker. The plot follows the opposition he gets trying to do this, and fighting those who use his suit design to make more blood money. The hero triumphs with style and panache, with flights round the world in his super suit and fights with a bigger copycat suit opponent and dogfights with aircraft. Very nice imagery, a battered but improved character emerges, very good sfx, and a feelgood plot. Echoes of Batman, Hancock, and similar heroes - should be awesome in blu-ray/HD. I am glad I bought it.
