  Q9550 Replacing my c0 q6600
Review created: 17/09/08

I have not got the chance to overclock it yet but it certainly feels faster than the q6600 given that its got a larger l2 cache and is clocked slightly higher. The real attractive part of this is the lower voltage consumption, which theoretically gives a larger headroom should I wish to overclock it in the future. These 45nm CPU also run very cool compared to the 65nm, so again more headroom for overclocking should you desire it. Although they seem slightly overpriced, if you cast your memory back to when the q6600 came out they were around the same price.

  Big performance boost

Just upgraded from an e6600 to the q9550. The system is much more snappier and games run much smoother e.g. modern warfare 2.

The heatsink that comes with it isnt that powerful so I will be upgrading that soon then start some overclocking!

Best cpu you can get on the ageing 775 platform

In a nutshell, excellent processor, have mine overclocked on a EP45T-Extreme motherboard @ 4.28ghz and have actually had it up to 4.5ghz!!

Processes data fast, massive boost in games also with the 12mb L2 cache, good value for money.

  Q9550

Love this chip had a Q6600 and that was good but run hot as 3.4 overclock. This is running at 3.7 o/clocked and the temps are 45 to 50 idle and 75 max at full load on prime.Thats on air with a tunic tower 120. This with 8 gig of ram at 1096 and 2x ati 5770 makes it benchmark faster than a i7 920 standard clock. All in all excellent chip.5*****

  Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, 2.83 GHz Q9550
Review created: 27/10/09

When i purchased this cpu and put it inside my pc, the sheer power just blew me away. I could see a massive difference from my previous cpu which was a Intel Pentium D 805 running at 2.66GHz.

I was now able to run more applications at the same then ever before and my pc will not freeze. I can play the latest games flawlessly without having to worry about any lag.

Encoding MP3's and HD video is also not a problem, way faster than a Core 2 Duo.

If you are thinking of buying a core 2 Duo for your pc, then i would strongly recommend that you spend that little bit extra and get a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, you will not be dispointed and that's guaranteed.

  Wow!!!
Review created: 14/07/09

I went from an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00ghz E8400 to this one and my god is it good. Performance is ridiculous video encoding and high demand games are handled with ease and it really makes a difference on a big screen tv. I can confirm that with the right graphics card it will handle games such as crysis pushed to the max without even breaking a sweat. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

  As Expected Brilliant result

It was the best price ANYWHERE & as expected my computer now runs super fast. I bought it because I wanted to upgrade my computer to play games & do other things at a better speed. This has made that possible.

  Woooaaaaaa!

Needed a faster processor to keep my rig up to speed, and found this little killer for a mere £200. As soon as it was installed, I noticed a huge improvement of every aspect of my system's running, from startup, windows, and most importantly gaming, freezing and long loading screens are pretty much gone, and it runs anything I throw at it now flawlessly on the highest settings (Bioshock, Red Alert 3, Call Of Duty 4, yet to try Crysis though haha). For reference i use an ATI 4830 graphics card. Can see it being along time before i need to get a new processor now!

At 2.83 MHz. not the faster processor but it is overclockable to 3 MHz or above easily. But then you have 4 processor cores so its effectively 11.82 MHz already!!
