It's definitely worth declaring that The Incredibles is the best animation film of the year, and that's no easy feat. A few months ago, it looked as if animation couldn't get any better than Shrek 2, but The Incredibles rises above the realm of all 3-D animation achievements previous to it and shames any live action film out there made from weak and exhausted parts. The film is written with snap and bite and made with some of the same zeal that has gone into the best of the James Bond pictures. It's deliriously funny and exciting. The Incredibles has set a new bar of animation excellence.Another one that should go in your collections, thanks for reading

This is a great family movie.

As with all CGI movies it works on different levels so it is entertaining for adults as well as children.

The basic plot outline, the government has outlawed all superheroes and forced them to adopt civilian identities.

Fifteen years after the event, we see Bob Parr (Mr Incredible) trying to cope with a mundane life as a insurance clerk, his wife Helen (Elastagirl) keeping the family together in a ‘normal’ suburban environment, this is especially difficult as the children Violet and Dashel have super powers.

Bob is obviously bored by this existence and tries to live the ‘Glory Days’ by listening to a police scanner with his friend Lucious Best (Frozone) in the hope of be able to do a ‘good deed’

Circumstances eventually force Bob to come out of retirement, which obviously impacts on the whole family.

Because of my long interest in superhero comics and the quality of the previous Pixar productions. I actually pre-ordered this DVD (The first and only time I have done this).

I Whole heartedly recommend this to everyone, I love everything about this DVD including the featurette’s and commentaries.

Sit back and let the kids enjoy !!!!

Brilliant film to settle down and watch with the kids. The characters are multidimensional, fun and yet surprisingly human for superheroes. Both the adults and kids will be able to relate in different ways with them. Mum will especially sympathise with Helen, trying to bring up and control two kids, whilst saving the world. The villain is mildly scary, enough for kids, but the film never looses its comedy, and so the lasting emotion is definately one of laughter, rather than fear. Make 'family time' more enjoyable for all ages with the Incredibles. This is a great value piece of entertainment from Amazon, you'll want to watch this film again and again, buy it!

A great investment for all the family! This fantastic film comes from the Pixar, so quality is almost guaranteed from this hothouse of talent.

The film appeals to most ages – but probably not as suitable for children younger than 4 as there is quite heavy action throughout. The subtle humour is great for adults, and there are even morals for kids – including an attempt through the teenage girl to show that everyone should feel comfortable in their own skin.

Well worth buying to keep as it’ll likely become a family favourite.

Brillant flim, very good animation, and very funny. - thats the incredibles in a sentance.
This flim is great. Good storyline. Fairly orginal (a family of superheros), but cliched (but what can you expect from a PG flim).
But, these are only minor downsides, i would recomned for anybody to see this flim if you have not done so already.

  Incredible!

Fifteen years ago, facing crippling lawsuits from an ungrateful public, the world's superheroes were forced into retirement. For Bob Parr (played by Craig T. Nelson), erstwhile Mr. Incredible, it has been a tough time going from savior of the world to unappreciated working stiff. And then suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, comes the chance to get back into the superhero game. But, something isn't right here, and the only way that Mr. Incredible is going to see this through is with the help of his family. [Color, released in 2004, with a running time of 1:55.]
OK, I must admit that when I went to the theater, I was not expecting too much, but boy was I in for a wonderful surprise! I like the movies that Pixar has made so far, but this one is definitely the best of them all! So, when the DVD came out, I just had to get it RIGHT AWAY! Again, I was far from disappointed.

This DVD set has a load of extras, including the animated short film Boundin' (as seen in the theatre), and a new short, Jack-Jack Attack. Jack-Jack Attack shows you what happened to babysitter Kari when Jack-Jack started to exercise his Super powers, and it is hilarious.

So, let me just sum up by saying that this is a great movie, one that you should own. Also, this is a great DVD set, which makes it a fantastic deal at any price. I am very glad that I bought this DVD set, and highly recommend it to you!

  An Incredible Family!
Review created: 14/10/05(updated 14/10/05)

Pixar are brilliant - this film has something for everyone aged 0 - 80. The incredible children are great, but elasta girl (Stretchy Mummy in my house) and her hubby Mr Incredible are really funny and well developed characters. The trials of their lives appeal to everyone. The humour aimed at adults peaks with Edna "E" Mode the Italian designer of "the supers" suits. My kids (3 & 5) loved the film to bits (handy as I get to watch it often).

Also in my edition is an additional disk in which two of the short films are worth watching. Jack-Attack is the story of how the babysitter got on sitting for a super baby. Boundin is a muscial number about a sheep and very sweet and amusing.

Watch this soon!

this is one for the kids, and the kids only. Its one of those typical laugh a min kids movies, only its done far better in otehr pixar animations. The idea is good, but the super-hero genre is done better with perhaps batman the animated series. Its got a good plot but it just isnt all there, this dvd prices at around the same as finding nemo and toy story, and it doesnt equal them.

One of the best pixar films to date!

In a different time, superheroes were called on to save the day. Mr incredible was one of the best and people adored him. However everything goes wrong when mr incredible saves someone who apparentlty didnt want to be saved. Lawsuits against him and other "supers" are brought forward and in the end the government is forced to hide all these heroes in a secret relocation programme

15 years later mr incredible works in an insurance firm and has married Elastigirl. They have three children - shy violet, hyperactive and outgoing dash and a baby called jack-jack. But Mr incredible can not keep to his promise not do superhero work. When a mysterious stranger offers him work for big money he can't refuse and it works up to a dramatic climax involving the entire family defending themselves using their incredible heroic powers.
the character animation and voice acting is outstanding. Not to mention the spectacular visual effects.

The twists and turns of the movie will keep you entertained throughout and the animation is just superb. The animators have really outdone themselves with lush scenes of massive islands and brilliant explosions throughout.

There are some brilliant deleted scenes on the second disc. It really is packed to bursting. There are some behind the scenes footage which documents on how the animators work with the characters and how the movie was createdI found it very interesting as it is aimed at an older audience than the film. This is a must see. There is also a short film called boundin that has good music and an original story to back up the moral ( looks doesn't matter, its what is inside you)
The other short film-Jack-Jack attack- is very funny and documents what happened during the film when the Jack-Jack had a babysitter.
Overall i think its best to get this 2 disc collectors animation as for only 1 or 2 pounds more, youre getting commentaries, documentaries, biographies of the supers, short films andmuch more!

This is one of the best pixar films to date and is great for all ages. It fluidly flows from drama to comedy to tension filled moments with ease! It isn't too long (111 minutes) and I assure you that you and you're kids will never want it to end!

The Incredibles has too be the best animation movie in film history! The animation is fantastic and it is such a entertaining movie.
The storyline is well planned out and the voices make the movie more life like.
Something just lets the movie down a little bit. Did the creators of this movie copy the superpowers that was in the comics of Fantastic Four? Mr. Incredible had superstrength, Elastigirl had superstrech, Violet could make force fields and turn invisible. They could of been more imaginative.
But, that doesn't let the film down too much. Overall, this movie in brilliant which should be worth owning. Bring on The Incredibles 2 Brad Bird!

This film was purchased for my 4yr old son's birthday, but to be honest having seen the film before it was also for me. It has an excellent well thought out story line and includes some adult humour. My son is able to understand the film and has remembered the names of the Characters. I/we can watch it again and again.

  the incredible Incredibles
Review created: 09/08/06
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Incredibles is an animated production by Pixar about a family of superheroes. The dad Mr Incredible is kind of like a bond character who can fly and is super strong, The Mom Mrs Incredible is like elastic, The daughter Violet can turn invisible, the son Dash is super fast and can run around the classroom, disrupt the teacher and get back in his seat before the CCTV camera can pick it up, and then theres Jack-Jack the baby who seems to have no powers.

The Incredibles love there life as superheroes but then the world turns on superheroes and all have to go into hiding as 'normal humans' and not use there super powers, all the family do this and settle into to normal life except Mr Incredible who keeps using his powers-this gets him noticed by a super-villain who plots to kill him and the movie is fun to watch as Mr Incredible ends up in trouble and its up to his wife and kids to save him.

The characters are so lifelike all the way through (the children fighting, the mom trying to be in charge) that the film will adsorb all of your attention and at the end we finally get to see Jack-Jacks super power...

A definite buy in my opinion!

"The Incredibles" is a movie that adults will enjoy as much as kids. Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) was a famous superhero until a bunch of people started filing lawsuits against the superheroes who saved them. Together with his wife, the former Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), Mr. Incredible enters a sort of superhero witness protection program. The couple assume new identities, Bob and Helen Parr, and raise their three children (two of whom also have superpower tendencies) in anonymity for the next 15 years. Bob is miserable in his job as an insurance claims specialist, so when a mysterious informant offers him the chance to play hero again, he jumps at the opportunity. Unfortunately, the whole thing turns out to be a trap that was orchestrated by a superhero wannabe that Mr. Incredible angered many years ago. Mr. Incredible/Bob soon finds himself in the middle of a very sticky situation, and his wife and children have to return to their superhero roots in order to save the day.

I absolutely loved this movie. It's very funny and original, and all of the characters are fantastic. In addition to the Incredibles, there's Bob's best friend Lucius Best, the former superhero Frozone, who is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson. ("Woman, where is my super suit?!") My favorite character is a quirky little woman with big glasses named Edna Mode who designs superhero outfits. Every word out of her mouth is HILARIOUS! ("Yes, words are useless! Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!")

This film has a PG rating. Unlike most animated films, there's a lot of shooting and people dying in "The Incredibles." I don't think it's excessive at all and it's certainly tamer than most of the stuff kids watch on television these days, but some overly-sensitive parents might have a problem with it.

Overall, I loved this movie. It was much better than I thought it would be because it's not a typical animated film...in some respects, I think adults will actually get much more out of it than kids. "The Incredibles" is a fun movie that also stresses the importance of family and teamwork. Parents will enjoy watching this movie with their kids and adults who don't have kids will enjoy it, too!

  The Incredibles (DVD 2005)
Review created: 09/04/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Saving the world before dinner gets cold, Pixar's The Incredibles blends superhero derring-do with domestic dysfunction to wickedly funny effect. Writer-director Brad Bird shows the same attention to character that set apart his debut feature, The Iron Giant (1999), and ensures that sumptuous CG animation takes second place to a ripping good yarn. Flexing their acting muscles as well as their vocal chords, Craig T Nelson and Holly Hunter boost the quirky quotient for this truly inspired family adventure.

Set in the candy-coloured 50s, workaday crime-fighter Mr Incredible aka Bob Parr (Craig T Nelson) falls foul of an ungrateful citizen who sues him for botching his suicide attempt. Other law suits follow, prompting a nationwide ban on all superheroes and forcing Bob and his wife Helen aka Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) underground.

"BRILLIANT COMIC SPARKS"

Fifteen years later the Incredibles are leading a humdrum suburban existence; their children (Spencer Fox, Sarah Vowell) struggle to fit in with their less than incredible peers while Bob yearns for the glory days. Helen begs them to conform, but when the world faces a new threat from the psychotic Syndrome (Jason Lee), Bob defies his wife's wishes and that's when the trouble really begins.

High-octane action rubs up against mundane moments creating brilliant comic sparks, like the sight of a hulking Bob wedged inside his office cubicle or a fellow crusader snagging his cape with fatal consequences. Both Hunter and Nelson brilliantly underplay their roles and never lapse into goofball delivery. However, it's Bird himself who steals the show as fascist fashion designer Edna, a riotous cross between Vivienne Westwood and Pol Pot.

Much of the humour risks playing over the heads of younger viewers and the two-hour running time will also test small concentration spans. But The Incredibles flies high above the crowd for its worldly wit and compassion for humankind.
