Ian Brown - Music Of The Spheres (CD 2001)

This album is brilliant and without doubt his best work since the "THAT" album in 1989.
The best song on the album for me is "F.E.A.R." this song is compelling, the lyrics inspirational and quite frankly this song alone made me buy the album. Throughout the album Ian Brown mixes guitars, great lyrics, good vocals, great production (from Dave McCracken) and an electronic fusion of keyboards and drum machines to create one of the best albums seen in 2001.

Initial impressions are, well, it's OK BUT!! I really liked Ian Brown's Stone Roses songs, and his lyrics are very strong in this album. Musically however, he seems to have been under some influences that have way-layed him. The melodies, chord progressions and even , dare I say it, his vocals remind me of Oasis. Quite a few what I suppose could be called, Techno synthesiser sounds have been used so one does not get that coherent "Band" feel that some solo singers manage to assemble. Perhaps I should persist with this album? Well my son tells me his follow up album is better so I think I'll try that.

just absolutely love this mans song writing. F.E.A.R is superb. loved stone roses and this just confirms the mans a monkey looking genius!

I would recommend this cd as it is excellent. I have already got a few of the tracks on the greatest hits cd but it is well worth a listen to especially f.e.a.r and forever and a day. Very spacey type of music which I like. I think Ian Brown is a great lyricist and is doing stuff on his own that was much better than Stone Roses music.
