Ian Brown - The Greatest (CD 2005)

Excellent collection of Brown's best work, including a couple of remixes. The collection showcases his variety of styles since the end of the Stone Roses. Not a dud track on here.

Mr. Brown may not have the best voice in all times, but he has the attitude, coolness, sense of rythm, talent of a real rock star. From the band that helped the madchester come alive to the alternative beats of his solo albuns, i'm sure that Ian is a legend and one of my favourite icons off all time.

I bought this as I love the track 'Fear'. However none of the other tracks seem to compare, so in retrospect I would have been better off just downloading that one track.

A generous collection of all of the 'godlike' ones hits. Around 6 tracks really stand out for me. Especially F.E.A.R, golden gaze and dolphins were monkeys. As someone whose favourite music isn't really indie, I often turn this up loud whilst in my car and have a good singalong. If you're already a fan and have his albums, don't go for this but for a great summary of his work-this is much recommended!

Bought this after reading a review like this one.
Don't get me wrong this is not stone roses but it is still worth buying and listening to. The bloke has talent, not just the drugs after all!

Having been madly into The Stone Roses,from the start(I went to Blackpool,Ally Pally,Spike Island),I took a rain check,when it came to Mr.B's solo stuff,thinking that it could never hold a candle to the legendary Roses.
I approached The Greatest to paraphrase Mr.B with No Expectations and upon listening to it found it an amazing revelation.
How wrong I was.On purchasing The Greatest,it was like a breath of fresh air.It is a fantastic ecletic collection,and I would recommend it to any music fan.It is right up there with the best music of the last 10 years.Testement to how strong the Greatest is that unlike many lesser best ofs where they have to jig the tracks around to cover the artists fallow periods here they are put in chronological order,without a seam showing.
