Album Notes Full performer name: The Presidents Of The United States Of America. The Presidents Of The United States Of America: Chris Ballew, Dave Dederer, Jason Finn.Additional personnel includes: Mark Sandman.Producers: Chris Ballew, Dave Dederer, Jason Finn.Recorded at Bad Animals and Studio Litho, Seattle, Washington. The Presidents' hugely-successful 1995 debut established them as practitioners of a loose-limbed, goofy pop sound, marked by dirty, overdriven guitar and absurd lyrics. On their second offering, the ungrungiest boys in all of Seattle keep the ball rolling, with a new batch of twitchy, manic pop tunes to make you giggle and groove.Singer Chris Ballew relates bizarre, Zappa-esque tales about bugs, frogs and Tiki gods over the angular, bouncy rhythms of Dave Dederer and Jason Finn. The trio's skewed power-pop is arch enough to keep things interesting, but melodic enough to provide these twisted ditties with a tasty sugar-coating that keeps things accessible. Highlights include the geological horror story "Volcano" and the instrument-endorsement satire "Toob Amplifier." Rest assured, The Presidents are the same trio of sick puppies you knew and loved on their last album. Reviews Review created: 05/12/06 by: I got caught up in the PUSA when i heard 'Peaches' and 'Lump' on the radio. I ran out and bought the first album and didn't stop listening for ages. To my delight i heard that the Presidents were releasing their second album, simply called 'II' and my impulse was to immediately run to the shops again and buy it. Was it worth it...? Definately yes! The album starts and finished in a Sgt Pepper style welcome & finish song, and everything in between is pure genius. The amazingly varied subject matter of the song writing is still there, this time it is anything from bugs heading off for a party in 'Bug City' to 'Froggie' rocking out all over a stage, and a 'Supermodel' making a fascinating fossil. Puffy little shoes shows a nice instrumental section near the end. The stand out songs for me are Mach 5, Lunatic To Love and Froggie, buy in all honesty there isn't a bad song on the album. If you liked the first album, you'll love this. If you've never tried the PUSA before, then this is a brilliant album to try. The songs aren't there to make you consider why we are here, they are pure catchy pop songs that will have you singing and humming all day long. All said and done, this is the Presidents at their peak. It is not until 2006 when we will hear their long awaited 3rd album 'Love Everybody' so get this album now and enjoy the music Chris, Dave & Jason have made for us!
