Album Notes Radiohead: Thom Yorke, Colin Greenwood, Johnny Greenwood, Phil Selway, Ed O'Brien.Engineers: Jim Warren, Nigel Godrich, Will Shapland.Recorded live in England, Germany, and Norway. So you're one of the most innovative, admired bands in the world. Your last three albums have been among the most glorified and scrutinized in post-Beatles rock history. What's your next move? In the case of Radiohead, that crucial next move proved to be the live album I MIGHT BE WRONG, which documents the intense performances of material from the last couple of albums and gives the envelope-pushing creative team a much-needed breather before unveiling their next masterpiece. Not that I MIGHT BE WRONG bears the slightest hint of filler or contractual obligation; these fever-pitch versions of cuts from KID A and AMNESIAC add much to the band's legacy. From the driving, Can-like bass line of the opener "The National Anthem" through "Like Spinning Plates"'s moody, piano-led majesty and the quirky, minimalistic electronica of "Idioteque," Radiohead is at the peak of its powers here. These European concert dates find the band employing its vast array of sonic weaponry in the service of a forward-looking vision that I MIGHT BE WRONG catches in an exciting sonic snapshot. Reviews Review created: 02/09/08 by: As a relatively new Radiohead fan, I was suprised to find how well I took to this album of eight live recordings. Recorded at various locations, the album track listing consists of some of their hits and a previously unrecorded live song - True Love Waits. 1. The National Anthem 2. I Might Be Wrong 3. Morning Bell 4. Like Spinning Plates 5. Idioteque 6. Everything In Its Right Place 7. Dollars and Cents 8. True Love Waits Buy this if only to discover the beauty that is True Love Waits :] The album can be quite expensive to buy in the shops, but easily found at a good price on ebay. A must for new and old fans! x Review ID: 10000000008526306 Was this review helpful? From the opening beats of National Anthem you will be hooked and left wondering why you didnt buy it before, I did. More please. Review ID: 10000000006218410 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 09/03/08 by: Essential for Radiohead fans, and for the undecided alike. Like all live albums, there's the odd missed note, a lot of background chatter and a sense that nothing quite sounds as you remember it. But surely that's the point? To help, or compel, the listener to hear the material afresh, to hear something that maybe was missed first time around. So, if you didn't like the experimental Kid A and Amnesiac, here's another chance. Play it loud; play it long; from the frenzy of The National Anthem and Idioteque, to the calm of Morning Bell and the beauty of Like Spinning Plates this is classic stuff. And if these fail to impress, you do at least get the previously unpublished True Love Waits, just Thom and his guitar filling in while the band get the beers in. Short, but sharp. A worthy 7.5 out of 10. Review ID: 10000000006084216 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
