House Of Wax (DVD)

Despite the fact the Paris Hilton was in it and it got off to a bit of a slow start, it got really good and had some gory bits to it too.
Great ending!
Enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
Would watch again in a few years time.

bought this film for myself as i had seen the old film a long time ago and had been told that the uptodate film was a lot better.Enjoyed it thoroughly and found it quite freaky and scary.

Best DVD I have bought !! Quick delivery, DVD in great condition even though it has been used before, would defo use this seller again !!

Wasnt sure about the film at first, thought it was just like all the other teen movies i have seen as it did start off to be like that but hang on in there and the movie gets better and better and with a good ending.
But who wants to see Paris Hilton posing in her underwear..no thanks !!!

I'm a big fan of horror films and the gorier the better for me. Any film that can make me feel a bit queasy is a good film in my book and gets a mega thumbs up because it takes alot to impress me. To be honest one of the main reasons for me buying this film was because I'm not a big fan of Paris Hilton to be honest so a film where she might die is a must to see.

The special effects in this film are truely amazing and it really is hard to believe that they aren't real and the gore content makes it even better. There aren't many films that I would watch more than once but have watched this few times since buying it.

If you like film that make you feel a bit queasy then you shouldn't be disappointed with this film. So buy, watch and enjoy!

I was expecting absolutely nothing from this movie, which is probably why I ended up quite enjoying it. It is a horror movie like many others - nothing really original about the format or the characters.

However, my brother Steven assured me that it was pretty good, and he also promised me Paris Hilton would indeed die a horrible death, so I agreed to watch it.

It is pacy, the deaths are pretty horrible and gruesome, and I enjoyed the two main leads, although, as I read in other reviews, they do seem more like boyfriend/girlfriend than brother/sister. And, to my shock, Paris Hilton actually is the voice of reason in the movie: "Yes, let's go follow the smell. Great idea." I fully agreed, and was shocked indeed. ;)

Anyway, if you're looking for just another popcorn horror movie, this one won't let you down. It's not extraordinary, but it is enjoyable enough. :)

This is the latest film I've watched, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the start it seems like 'Oh no another teen horror movie' kind of stype, but it actually develops into something a lot better.

Can be quite grim in places, but if you enjoyed films like Jeepers Creepers of Wolf Creek etc you'll enjoy this.

Great film, My daughter and I are trying to find the scariest films and this film, although scary in places, didn't reach our number one slot.

We loved the part where Paris Hilton got killed and where (Wade) was encased in wax and his friend tried to free him, only to have his (Wade) face torn away! I love lots of suspense and blood and sadly there wasn't much of the latter.

We did, however really enjoy watching it and will definately watch it again!

I actually thought this film was excellent,normally these kind of titles strike me as oh no this sounds corny,but this is really good,this stars the gorgeous Paris Hilton and she can actually act believe it or not,check out this title it may sound dodgy but i think you will really enjoy this,its really kinda creepy.

House of wax. Clearly an attempt at a murderous horror film, this new age movie is not one for the faint harted. Though rated a 15 certificate, could easily be aimed towards younger teenagers in its immature approach to freight and terror.

The breathtaking stupidity of characters in horror films is a never ending source of amazement to me. When will people realise that a bad guy is never dead until he's been chopped up into a hundred pieces or well and truly decapitated. Now, I'm not Quincy, but giving a prone body a little nudge with one toe and declaring him out the game is probably not the recognised method for issuing a death certificate. Which brings us nicely to House of Wax.

The initial setup involves six twenty-somethings driving around the parts of the American Deep South where you should never go. There's some half hearted nonsense about trying to get to a big football match the next day, which really just serves as an excuse to get a bunch of idiots camping out in the middle of nowhere. After the usual antics where they're terrorised by an unseen menace in a pick-up truck, car trouble leads to them splitting up, with Carly (Elisha Cuthbert) and her boyfriend Wade (Jared Padalecki) taking an ill-advised lift from a local yokel to the nearest town, while the rest of the gang, including Carly's wayward brother Nick (Chad Michael Murray) head off for the game.

A few leaps in logic later and Carly and Wade are in trouble in the eerily quiet town, which sports as its main attraction a museum whose contents, not to mention walls and floors, are made entirely of wax. Soon, as the others come to help and the bodies start piling up, we slowly learn the secrets of the House of Wax.

The law of diminishing returns for Dark Castle productions has seen them go from the bearable (House on Haunted Hill) to the barely watchable (Ghost Ship) to the downright risible (Gothika), but House of Wax may well rank as their weakest effort so far, presenting us not only with a formulaic genre pic, but a thoroughly unappealing bunch that we actually look forward to seeing getting butchered. At least if it were short and snappy and had more of a sense of humour there may have been some fun to be had, but House of Wax has the nerve to trundle on for an outrageous 113 minutes.

Great put together little film. As my missus says "wicked film full of cruel painfull acts on people not bad acting and quite plausable" I will have to remember not to get on her bad side and definately no more candles being bought for her this year!!

Ok, its nothing other than a teen slasher but I love how surreal the whole movie is! There are actually a few genuine scares and jumps. And okay, it does star some below than average 'celebrities' but all you can do is get some friends and savour the chills!

I loved this film. A terrific, simple horror / slasher film. Good characters and inventive gore scenes make this a memorable movie. Even Paris Hilton was bearable in this

Quite a good film, not too scary which i liked about it because i'm quite sqemish - but interesting story line not what i expected, a few gory scenes that give you a shudder watching but all round a good watch :D x

We sat down to watch it and.. we were all like WAT?!??! It was not scary and we all felt like we had waisted our time watching it.. So, if you aren't to sure about scary films and would like a tame one to get you into it then this is the one for you.. However if you are a serial horror film watcher dont bother... :)
