PC Nicholas Angel is transferred from the Met to a small village. His new partner is the clown PC Danny Butterman and together they investigate a series of very strange murders, all of which are classed as ‘accidents’ by the half witted local police. Angel does things by the book, to start with, but learns some moves from Hollywood movies and the closing scenes are a parody of the worst of them.
There are glimpses of the classic Christopher Lee film "The Wicker man" only much funnier. The film starts slowly but by the end it doesn't stop for breath.
Forget the hype, watch the film. Jog on....

Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems.

Thought this was going to be HILARIOUS!

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this on DVD, after seeing it at the cinema most of the film is aimed at cheap laughs which have been done a million times before..
Shaun of the Dead was 50 times better than this, if you enjoyed that don't expect this film to be as great.
I was amazed to see a "special edition" with "bonus features" in SAINSBURYS!
I only got 2 real decent laughs out of it. However there are some excellent action sequences car chases etc, the storyline is OK.
Not really to my taste

  Hot Fuzz Dvd

Woo, woo it's the sound of the police: straight after bashing the undead in Shaun, Simon Pegg tools up for Hot Fuzz, a criminally funny cop movie parody that plays like Bad Boys II meets Midsomer Murders (and we mean that as a compliment). Pegg stars as top London rozzer Nicholas Angel, transferred to a sleepy Somerset village by his jealous colleagues. It's supposed to be an easy gig, but pretty soon the city plod's up to his helmet in murder...

Keeping the genre-busting humour of Shaun - just without the zombies - Hot Fuzz is described as "a British Shane Black movie". They're not kidding - 20 minutes of heavily stylised, slow-mo gun porn sees Nicholas and partner Danny (Nick Frost) - "Crockett and Tubby" - turn the village into a smoking wreck. Yet that's just the finale of a movie that's happiest (and funniest) bouncing off British staples like TV detectives, hoodie-wearing yoofs and country ways.

"A MOVIE YOU'LL WANT TO SEE AGAIN"

True, it's not nearly as dead-on as instant classic Shaun, its cop movie targets a little too soft, too easy. And yes, it needs trimming, a turgid second half too self-indulgent for its own good. But it's a movie you'll still want to see again, if only to get all the mini-jokes: throwaway little gems like Frost's "Judge Judy and executioner" gag. It's refreshingly British comedy (it even has a shootout in Somerfield supermarket!) and after watching this, Point Break will never seem the same again. Look out Hollywood: the Fuzz are coming.

I'm perfectly happy with the product which was exactly as advertised in delivered quickly. It was a very very very very very very very very very very fine product.
Asking for me to write at least 100 characters is unreasonable. Please revert to simple feedback. I don't have time for all this!

Had Me Very Much Into The Film The Whole Time
Review created: 10/05/09
by:

Hot Fuzz was a very enjoyable film. Simon Pegg's acting was brilliant, the acting on the whole was good. The effects were very graphic, script was well written. The story gave off some good laughs and some great moments of action. Good film!

Plot:

Top London cop, PC Nicholas Angel is good. Too good. And to stop the rest of his team looking bad, he is reassigned to the quiet town of Sandford. He is paired with Danny Butterman, who countlessly questions him on the action lifestyle. Everything seems quiet for Angel, until two actors are found decapitated. It is address to as an accident, but Angel isn't going to accept that, especially when more and more people turn up dead. Angel and Danny clash with everyone, whilst trying to uncover the truth behind the mystery of the apparent "acidents".

  Absolutely hilarious

When i first saw the trailer for this, i wasn't really too fussed about it, but eventually my friend dragged me to watch the DVD. I have to say, I'm so glad she did! A clasically british movie, complete with (rather a lot of) swearing, some quite frankly gruesome scenes and a laugh a minute! No, scrap that, more like a laugh a second! I think that line 'Ooh, look at his horse...' has to go into the book of all-time funniest quotes! Much loved by everyone I know, definitely one to watch.

  'Hot Fuzz' DVD

I was expecting more humour. It did have it's moments, but it wasn't as good as I thought it might be. I live in an area of Birmingham that people refer to as Moseley "village" and I did "recognise" a few people in the film that it could have been written about here!! Meowwww!!

  Hysterically funny
Review created: 10/05/08

Another outing for the team from Shaun of the Dead. Full of shameless references to other movies - mostly the American "Odd couple" cop buddy movies - which just make it funnier. Highly reccommneded for a good laugh, but with a nice hint of pathos here and there.
