PC Nicholas Angel is transferred from the Met to a small village. His new partner is the clown PC Danny Butterman and together they investigate a series of very strange murders, all of which are classed as ‘accidents’ by the half witted local police. Angel does things by the book, to start with, but learns some moves from Hollywood movies and the closing scenes are a parody of the worst of them.
There are glimpses of the classic Christopher Lee film "The Wicker man" only much funnier. The film starts slowly but by the end it doesn't stop for breath.
Forget the hype, watch the film. Jog on....

This movie is 2 hours of mindless action and uproarious laughs!
Take your average traditional American buddy cop thriller and relocate it to the mean streets of Gloucestershire (in a place voted 'village of the year').
And in lieu of Will Smith/Martin Lawrence or Mel Gibson/Danny Glover, they will give you Pegg and Frost, who are as brilliant and funny as they were in Shaun of the Dead.

I heard a lot of people saying that the last 30 minutes of the movie were its weakest point. I personnaly found this part particularly hilarious, but maybe it's just me!

The DVD itself is one of the best I have seen recently in terms of extras - making-off, interviews, behind-the-scene footage, video blogs, 4 audio commentaries, 22(!) deleted scenes...etc...
A safe buy.

This has got to be one of the best films England has ever produced. It is a bundle of laughs and well worth watching if you have nothing to do. Simon Pegg acts brilliantly in this film. Thank you for looking, I hope this has helped you!

A top London cop is relocated to rural Sandford where he stumbles upon all manner of misdoings. Action comedy starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and directed by Pegg's co-writer Edgar Wright
Hot Fuzz is better than Shaun Of The Dead. Not as verbally witty as its predecessor perhaps, but Edgar Wright's action comedy is knee-deep in great sight gags, and the director's keen understanding of both forms make this a rare phenomenon: a British film that is both blisteringly funny and genuinely action-packed.

Wright's collaborator Simon Pegg is Sergeant Nicholas Angel, the Met's top cop. He's so good, in fact, that to prevent him from out-performing his fellow officers he's reassigned to Sandford, the sort of burgh that makes the Ambridge of 'The Archers' look like Los Angeles.

But if Sandford is a sleepy market town, it's home to some very real nightmares. Not that local coppers like loveable oaf Danny Butterman (Frost) see anything suspicious about Sandford's absurd number of 'accidents'. Angel is no ordinary constable and launches an investigation, much to the amusement of his bumbling boss (Broadbent) and his colleagues (Considine and Spall as a couple of mustachioed types who wouldn't look out of place in BBC retro cop show 'Life On Mars').

The second film from messers Pegg and Wright. This time they weave an action comedy thriller as Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Pegg) is forced into the wilds of the sleepy village of Sandford. No sooner has he arrived then all hell breaks loose. Strange happenings are afoot and Angel, with the help of loyal local P.C. Danny Butterman (Frost), makes it his task to break the sinister conspiracy.

The second outing from the team that brought us SotD, is a genuine piece of filmic brilliance. It's not just an out-and-out clone of any one cop movie, but serves all the needs and expectations of the UK film fan - plenty of guns, an equal serving of gore, a clicky plot, and genuine acting.
Although only two major films in to his career, Edgar Wright seems (to me anyway) to have the same magic in his direction that John Carpenter has in his early films. Fairly low budgets favor directors/writers that, as in SotD, have a passion for the films they make, and it really does show in the end product. Add to all this the DVD set itself - a host of extras, from commentry, deleted scenes, documentaries, featurettes and loads more. Not just a filum for the Spaced fans. This is good, complete film and will only get better with time.

Hot Fuzz: The story tells us of an over-active 'policeman officer', Nicholas Angel (Played by the co-star of Shaun of the Dead, Simon Pegg) who is sent to work his duties out in the countryside, to avoid his use of excessive arrests. Suspicions arrive in the town however, as people start getting killed 'accidentally'. Coupled with his rather unprofessional partner Danny Butterman (Similiarily played by Shaun of the Dead star Nick Frost) they get themselves into suspicious circumstances Nicholas Angel fails to ignore.

But what can I say? It's just hilarious! An incredibly funny, witty, intelligent British comedy that manages to bring you to tears with laughter and also offers extremely well directed and executed action scenes! If you liked the likes of Shaun of the Dead, you'll love this, simple as that. I was oddly surprised to find that it was incredibly violent, albeit, in a cartoony way, but it will definitely make you squint. Plenty of cameo's by the likes of the hilarious Bill Bailey and a great cast will make this a action/thriller/comedy hard to forget! Excellent

To be honest i had such big expectations for this movie as the main characters have been great in previous things they have done. But it was such a let down, the jokes seemed to be aimed at kids mainly, simple gags for simple people. I have no idea what all the hype was about, could have been so much better I'm very surprised these same guys made the much more funny Shaun of the dead! Lame and unfunny I'm afraid! Actually turned it off half way through!

Hot Fuzz
Directed by: Edgar Wright
Starring: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent, Paddy Considine, Steve Coogan, Timothy Dalton, Martin Freeman, Paul Freeman, Bill Nighy, Lucy Punch, Anne Reid, Billie Whitelaw, Stuart Wilson, Edward Woodward
Certificate: 15
Running time: 121mins

Last time we saw Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, we left them to their own devices in a shed playing games with each other. Now the duo have returned entering a completely different field of danger, instead of taking a cricket bat to the undead, they’re facing chav's, villains and an illusive swan in, Hot Fuzz.

Pegg plays Nicholas Angel, an up and coming copper who’s making everyone else look bad. With the rest of the station tired of Angel being so good, they find an answer to their problems in the sleepy town of Sandford, and shipping Angel out to the timid and tranquil area. Angel’s fast chases on the streets of London are far behind him as all he can look forward to now is kicking out the underage drinkers at the local pub and drawing out the winners of the raffle at the village fete; not quite the usual for our hero, especially when he’s got PC plonker, Danny Butterman (Frost) constantly hounding him about police life in the big city. But little does the duo know that they’re about run into some serious dastardly deeds in merry old Sandford.

It isn’t long after Angel is reluctantly settling in that people are being knocked off left right and centre, and it seems our plucky and proper policeman is the only one who can see it. Suspects are everywhere and with the death toll growing, Angel must find the dark secret that is hidden in sunny village-fast. But with the only bit of help coming from new partner Butterman can he uncover the truth, save the day, and find that bloody swan?

Liked Shaun taking down zombies? Then you’ll love this as I say this in all honesty-it was fuzzin’ brilliant!

The eager anticipation for the return of the lads that bought us the first romzomcom has finally paid off. Every goal that was reached in Shaun of the Dead parallels that of Hot Fuz. Not only have the minds of Wright and Pegg bought us a crackin’ comedy, they’ve handed us a awesome action film.

Hot Fuzz has managed to neatly tick all the boxes that make the likes of Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and even 007 so popular; the buddy element, the hefty explosions and thrill ride of a gunfight finale that takes place in the middle of the frozen foods isle; Somerfield’s reputation is going to shoot through the roof, thanks to this.

And ignore all those that may see this as better or worse then SOTD; as you simply can’t compare it, this is an ace action film- one which they’ve got down to an art. Sure they’ve given a wink to their previous hit, but it’s handed carefully so as not to be using just the same material. Frost characters guzzling down Cornetto’s and Pegg has finally managed to crack the whole fence hopping game, but you’ll be too busy to notice at times thanks to crème de la crème of British comedy showing their badge, and a genuinely intriguing story line. Bill Bailey’s the miserable troll that we all know and love as well as Steve Coogan and Martin Freeman nipping in for a hello, all adding to what is probably the very first UK action film, and a damn good one at that.

Undoubtedly the SOTD lads have cranked out another sure hit mainly down to the Pegg/Frost partnership we loved in their first big screen outing. Car chases, gun fights and a granny g

  Shaun of the Dead lovers!

After splitting my guts watching Shaun of the Dead I couldnt wait for the release of Hot Fuzz since it comprises of some of the same cast.

So it was with both great excitement and the apprehension of living upto one of my favourite spoofs that I walked into the screening. But, as it turns out, I had nothing to worry about because Hot Fuzz exceeded all my expectations.

It’s just as hysterical as all previous spoofs—and maybe even more so. The humor is dark and clever —and there’s plenty of it. And Hot Fuzz still has its share of Wright’s shockingly wacky violence, without the zombies. Along with the loiterers and underage drinkers, there’s also a mysterious, black-caped villain, who resorts to beheadings, explosions, and any other means necessary.

Despite the hints about the murderer along the way, you’ll still be in for an amusing surprise or two before the whole thing ends, just as it should—in classic over-the-top cop-movie style.

With its non-stop action and comedy, Hot Fuzz keeps you on your seat till the very end. And it doesn’t hurt that Pegg and Frost have great comic chemistry. Pegg makes a brilliant straight man, and Frost is hilarious as his dim-witted but ever-eager sidekick. Together, they make Hot Fuzz quite possibly the funnies cop movie around today.

And don't forget to watch the extra's on the DVD!

Hot Fuzz- SIMON PEGG DOES IT AGAIN!!!

I loved this film, i saw it at the cinemas with a couple of my mates. I just bought the dvd last week and now im going to review it for the ebay community.

The film starts off with police constable Nicholas Angel (Pegg) who is one of the Metropolitan Police's shining lights. He is so good at his job, he makes the rest of the force seem sluggish. So the Chief Inspector (Nighy) transfers Nicholas to the sleepy West Country backwater of Sandford, where nothing ever happens.

"There hasn't been a recorded murder in Sandford for 20 years," proudly declares Inspector Frank Butterman (Broadbent). Who i thought was excellent in this film.

Assisted by Frank's son, Constable Danny Butterman (Frost), Nicholas meets the locals, including supermarket manager Simon Skinner (Dalton), florist Leslie Tiller (Reid) and Reverend Philip Shooter (Freeman).

The new cop in town soon discovers that Sandford harbours at least one psychopath. Armed to the hilt, Nicholas inspires his colleagues - PC Doris Thatcher (Colman), Sergeant Tony Fisher (Eldon) and DCs Andy Cartwright (Spall) and Andy Wainwright (Considine) - to take down the bad guys by any means necessary.

For me- Hot Fuzz was a hugely enjoyable romp in the countryside that handcuffs the loopy plotting of Midsomer Murders to the hysterically overblown action of Lethal Weapon.

Very entertaining film for the adults as well as the teens.

The dvd extras for this film are:

Director, actor, Sandford Police Service, Sandford Village People and The Real Fuzz commentaries, 'Making Of' featurette, 'Art Department' featurette, 'Friends And Family' featurette, 'Cranks, Cranes And Controlled Chaos' featurette, 'Here Comes The Fuzz' featurette, 'Return To Sandford' featurette, 'The Man Who Would Be Fuzz' scene, out-takes, video blogs, Hot Funk montage, Edgar And Simon's Flip Chart, Simon Muggs, Sgt. Fisher's Perfect Sunday, Fuzz-O-Meter, storyboards, photo galleries, plot holes and comparisons, Dead Right, flick book: The Other Side, theatrical trailers.

Recommended purchase for all fans of shaun of the dead!!!

  Naughty but Nice
Review created: 30/06/07

Being a Brit that is proud both of the British way of life and the British sense of humour, I was very much looking forward to cracking Hot Fuzz open when it arrived. While I love the old American movies and sitcoms, nothing quite captures the essence of our playful yet patriotic values like these two do when they get together.

While Hot Fuzz is ever so slightly more realistic than Shaun of the Dead, it offers the same hilarious one-liners, the same tickling adult references and the same pure British "stand by your local pub" values.

Making use of an impressive and welcomed British cast, Hot Fuzz follows the seemingly peaceful life of a small English village with a population that couldn't even fill a McDonalds. Dotted right in the middle of the situation, Nicholas Angel (Pegg... the blonde one) is not quite convinced by the village's inhumane accident rate and dodgy supermarket staff. Working on the case equipped with akimbo pistols, a notepad and a pencil, he purges the village's people for information on the strange events unfolding and ends up biting off more than he can chew.

An incredibly funny and silly comedy that lightens your heart but still delivers that weird sense of pride you get when you see a British Police Car speeding onto the big screen.

I believe that everyone is a fan of comedy and that anyone looking for something less serious to enjoy with a Saturday night curry should invest in this title.

The DVD was received in used cond and the DVD itself is in perfect watching condition. The box was a little scruffy as it has had a sticker stuck to it obviuosly when originally bought which had been removed but not really a big deal. Woo, woo it's the sound of the police: straight after bashing the undead in Shaun, Simon Pegg tools up for Hot Fuzz, a criminally funny cop movie parody that plays like Bad Boys II meets Midsomer Murders (and we mean that as a compliment). Pegg stars as top London rozzer Nicholas Angel, transferred to a sleepy Somerset village by his jealous colleagues. It's supposed to be an easy gig, but pretty soon the city plod's up to his helmet in murder...

Keeping the genre-busting humour of Shaun - just without the zombies - Hot Fuzz is described as "a British Shane Black movie". They're not kidding - 20 minutes of heavily stylised, slow-mo gun porn sees Nicholas and partner Danny (Nick Frost) - "Crockett and Tubby" - turn the village into a smoking wreck. Yet that's just the finale of a movie that's happiest (and funniest) bouncing off British staples like TV detectives, hoodie-wearing yoofs and country ways.

"A MOVIE YOU'LL WANT TO SEE AGAIN"

True, it's not nearly as dead-on as instant classic Shaun, its cop movie targets a little too soft, too easy. And yes, it needs trimming, a turgid second half too self-indulgent for its own good. But it's a movie you'll still want to see again, if only to get all the mini-jokes: throwaway little gems like Frost's "Judge Judy and executioner" gag. It's refreshingly British comedy (it even has a shootout in Somerfield supermarket!) and after watching this, Point Break will never seem the same again. Look out Hollywood: the Fuzz are coming.

Shaun of the dead propelled the talent of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg to the big screen and with Edgar Wright's Second feature the Spaced stars look set to stay.
Hot Fuzz is a note perfect parody of not only the Bay/Bruckheimer Hollywood phenominon but also of the NIMBYs of Middle England.
The real class of this film is in the little touches, the helicopter blade sound pulsing after the scene has finished, the nods to popular Hollywood films and the superb supporting cast.
Hot Fuzz is the most bombastic English comedy blockbuster to see the light of day (If not maybe the only one) and after Shaun of the dead it looks like Wright is going for the Hat trick of perfect English parody with his yet unnanounced third film.
