Hoover DM5530 Dust Manager Bagged Upright Vacuum

Unlike a lot of rivals, this has motor (not suction) driven brushes so "fluffs" up carpets... just what we wanted.
The Pet-tool is suction driven and so can slow down, but get it right and it works really well, crevice tool is all but unique... really long & very very useful. Long hose is a real boon and the tools can be stored on the machine...
As for the bag/filter system which is what some people criticise, it's not the best, it is a bit fiddly and does fill fast.. mine replaced a Dyso and it's definitely picking up more but woe betide you if any string, paper, ... well dirt really, get sucked up (which they invariably do).
If you have carpets that need a bit of life back, this is a very powerful (2000W) upright, with motorised brushes, enough tools and a very long hose.
Why am I not raving about it?... , it's only a Vacuum cleaner but the 'fake clyclone' system is a poor joke... starting to regret buying but carpets looking far better than with my Dyson.... JUST NOT SURE IF IT@S WORTH THE HASSLE!

I decided to buy this vacuum because it seemed good value but unfortunately it was another case of a "to good to be true bargain". My wife is fast losing patience with this model as it cuts out on a motor overheat switch after approx 10 minutes and will not start for 30 minutes, this has put hours on her house cleaning.

When I checked the invoice to complain I noticed a paragraph that covered this problem explaining that it was normal for the vacuum to cut out as a safe guard to prevent the motor burning out.

I can understand the need for a safty cut out but I would expext to get longer then 10 minutes normal use before a trip. My understanding of safty trips is for the trip to activate under abnormal conditions causing overload/overheat such as a blockage in the suction pipe, otherwise the vacuum should run quite contently untill the household chores are done.

In my opinion this vacuum is not suitable for the use it was intended and I will be replacing it very soon, and it certainly will not be with the same manufacturer.

The price was excellent. Overall pleased with purchase. Suction is good, hoover is light and easy to control. The tools are effective. Minor dislikes include, the control buttons on/off and recline are quite 'tinny' and cheap. Also the hoover fills up quite quickly. However the price was great and basically the hoover does what it is supposed to.

Picks up great although need to empty frequently and clean filters, bought it because it was cheap and was needed as my heavy expensive Electrolux was a waste of time, barely picked up anything

the hoover was great does the job brilliant the contact with the ebayer was great and they kept in contact about collection times which was helpful as we had to travel, it is really good and we are very pleased that we won it thanks very much

Glad I did not pay full price. This machine is better than a lot of cheap ones but has problems not mentioned in which report.
1. Dust container is too small for a medium/large house
2. The dog hairs and fluff tend to wind around the filter rather than stay in the bottom of the container (this means loss of suction and you need to empty after each session)
3. The machine feels somewhat "plasticy"
Would I buy again? probably but not before looking at other makes...not as substantial as Dyson bit a lot cheaper

Its compact and light and kight and it does exactly what I need it to! It dosn't fall over when im hoovering the stairs

After having 2 non-pet hoovers, I got fed up with never having a clean carpet & decided to invest in something designed for the job. I have a dog & 5 inodor guinea pigs so there is always pet hair everywhere!

This hoover was a fantastic price and very good service. After the first use I rediscovered the real colour of my carpets!! I have never been disappointed at how well the hoover picks up dirt. It's frustrating at having to empty the dust box so often (every day, but that's because it otherwise gets clogged with hay!) but it takes less than 5 minutes & you're off again! I never cease to be amazed at how much dust & hairs are picked up off the floor in a day!

If you have pets - you won't be disappointed!

I purchased the Hoover dust manager 2000, as I have had a similar model before. As I have 3 cats and a dog ,I find it very efficient in picking up hairs, it also gets deep down in the carpet and removes a lot of dust. I have put this product to the test. I vaccumed my carpets with a dyson, and then again with the Hoover and it was amazing the amount of dust that it picked up. I find the turbo brush very useful on furniture. The hoover dust manager is an excellent product , easy to use, easy to empty, and on board tools for ease and I can personally recommend it.

This vacuum cleaner is absloutely useless as it will not pick up ordinary dog hairs even though it was the powerful model.BUY those with a bag only unless your house is always immaculate!

Bought this as the plastic on my Dyson keeps cracking, and I am fed up fixing it and I needed a powerful motor for pet hairs

Great product for the money and good suction for pet hairs as I have 2 dogs
The bag is a bit small and needs emptying a lot, filter clogs but easily remedied
It also gets in close to the edge of carpet.
Is a bit top heavy and falls over quite a bit.

Don't know how good it is on stairs, as i live in a bungalow!

very powerful and good for pets hairs. Needed something that would actually lift dog hairs.good service and very rapid. No messing about. Seller very responsive, as the first one was broken. Received a new one the next day. No haggling about it they picked up the first one the same as the new one was delivered. Easy to empty and clean.

As our two older vacuum cleaners were getting near the end of their lives I decided to try ebay for a replacement. Bought this vacuum cleaner for a very good price but read some bad reports on this item after payment. Most of the complaints were about overheating and clogged filters. After using this item for some time I can report that the cleaner although not the most rugged vacuum we have ever bought, does the job very well but for a few minor faults.
Suction is very good but too good for the very small dust box so that the filters get clogged very quickly especially with our German Shepards hair, but if you follow the instructions to the letter and empty and clean the filters after every use there is no problem. We have experienced no cutting out due to over heating as reported by other users.Vacuum tends to fall over a lot due to being top heavy with all the cleaning equipment on board,even after removing the tools but a minor thing. The vacuum is easy to use,does the job well but definately was in need of some more development before going into production.
Electrical lead could do with being a lot longer still never mind I shall take the one off of our Vax when it finally gives up the ghost.
Overall we are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend it as long as the instructions as to use and maintenance are adhered to.

I was attracted to this vacuum for large motor hoping it had a really good suction, and on this I was not disappointed it really does do an excellent job.

Yes it does have a small dust compartment, but emptying it is like falling off a log, so I really don't have a problem with it.

Yes it really is top heavy and keeps falling over and thumping me in the back, but I forgive it because as I said it really does do the business, and is very user friendly.

Very pleased with hoover, very powerful delivered in set time.Only downfall is size of collection box but this is a minor problem.Would definitly buy again from this site

this is an excellent upright cleaner, it has all the attachments wiyh it. it was a very good price and it works very well,having 2 cats it copes with thier fur very well i would advise anybody to purchase this machine

AFTER THE CHRISTMAS MESS I FOUND OUT THAT MY VACUUM WAS BROKEN. SO I FOUND THIS ONE ON E-BAY. IT TOOK A LITTLE WHILE TO BE DELIVERD, BUT AM WELL PLEASED.
