I had this film on video years ago and decided to buy it again on DVD. I am a bit of a horror freak and found the film very enjoyable.
It was a film that kept you on the edge of your seat. You know something bad is going to happen but you're not quite sure what.

This is a good film...it has a very good plot and keeps you on edge for all of it...It is the original of the Hills Have Eyes and is a little worse but still good for it's time.

Will forever be classed as a classic must have, must see horror film. Brought at this price and special package makes it irresitable. Don't expect todays Hostel or Saw level of gore and violence, but jumps and suspense in the bucket full.

  Remake runs with the pack
Review created: 08/04/08

A great horror flick is hard to write, so I have been lenient on them. With that said, OK, joining the family of movies with folks getting lost only to find gruesome fates, America jumps in with 'The Hills Have Eyes'. If your interested I did the research for the following... (this excludes older origionals and is as of 2005).

Wolf Creek = 2005 England
Wrong Turn = 2003 Canada
Hills Have Eyes = 2006 U.S.
Detour = 2003 Australia.

Four countries have their own versions of this plot. By date (see above) you can tell who copied who first. Hills Have Eyes was good. It was worth the ebay buy and worth pay per view. $11.00 in a movie house plus $10 for popcorn candy and soda... I may have reduced the rating to average. As the other ratings said , I agree. Scary and the protagonists are real nasty, ugly folk. If you saw any of the other 3 movies I listed (AKA-The Family) then you will like Hills have eyes a lot. I don't provide spoilers so that's all I'll say. My opinion though, Wrong Turn was the best! Followed by Hills Have Eyes, then Detour, then Wolf Creek. If the price is right, SEE THEM ALL! You'll have fun like I did comparing them!

  The Hills Have Eyes Original

Wes Craven at his best. The story is well told and holds you on the end of your seat. The remake is OK but you cannot beat the original.

A great film and a Wes Craven classic. Is very original with it being out in the midlle of no where with a lot of mad cannibals and a family whos vehicle is broken down it is your guess who survives. It is well worth buying with lots of extras but does not have as good of a story line to why the people are mad so the remake explained a bit more but this is still a great film.
