This was the first of many Highlander movies ... and is still a classic movie.

A most excellent film, still highly watchable today, (I think it came out first time in '86).
One for your DVD collection!

I remembered seeing this when it was first released and finally bought a copy. Unfortunately it went to the local charity shop after one watching. Sean Connery as a Portugese nobleman is excellent (as one might expect) but in my personal opinion Christopher Lambert couldn't act his way out of a paper bag - his face is particularly expressionless - so one watching was quite enough.

This is A great film. A classic must see adventure set in the past and the presnet(well the mid 80's when the film was made. The concept is original and the script is strong. Also if you like Queen the whole sound track is there doing and a lot of the songs you know so well were writen for this film.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD i wanted to find this one as i had it on vides and i like the film well worth a look and easy to find on e bay

After reading an article of the Highlander films in an issue of Empire, I was intrigued to watch the first film to see what the fuss around it was about. My verdict of the film is simply that it isn't as good as it is now when compared with the other films in the eighties.
There were just simply too much bad ideas of the film that dragged it down: Lots of Queen music, a gothic villain, bad set pieces, etc. The only good side of the film was the concept of immortal men fighting to gain a 'price'.
I didn't think it was the worst film, but it wasn't exactly the classic I thought it was going to be and I'm glad that Hollywood is remaking the series in the nest few years from now. Maybe then, I'll enjoy the intriguing concept with great cinematic elements.

My Favorite film of all time, well made and good story line.
Acting in the film is very good, and good actors in the film.
Seen this film many times, would watch it any time and many more times to come.

What originally attracted me to this movie was the fact that Queen, my favourite band of all time wrote and performed the soundtrack. It quickly became one of my favourite films because of the great story which the music compliments.
What do I love about it - the unique story line, the magical idea behind it, the great characters and the fact that it jumps around throughout history, going from 80's New York to Scotland in the 1500's, in a way that is totally convincing and charming.
Dislikes - none! It's a bit violent but not excessively so. I decided to buy it because it's always been on my DVD wishlist, and if you add it to yours it will not disappoint!

Highlander immortalised the phrase "there can be only one," and then they made 3 other films, and a TV spin off series!
This original film is superb. It tells the life of one of the immortals, who through time, have lived for hundreds of years. They can only be killed by having their head severed from their body. They fight to the death with swords, until there is only one!

i bought this dvd asi am collecting the full set , the dvds take you into another realm ,i will collect all until i have the full set.

I bought this DVD for my Grandsons as my son had enjoyed the film so much, I was sure that the younger ones would feel the same. The fact that Sean Connery is in it and he is Indianna Jones father, was even more exciting for the boys.
The main Character is played by a Frenchman who tries hard to perfect a Scottish accent. This is an adventure that is timeless and worth viewing. The main Character is immortal and he has many encounters with the evil Kurgan who is also immortal and, who, though the ages of time, tries to chop off the Highlander's head.
Only one immortal can survive and we're all hoping it's the highlander.

It feeds the imagination - imagine what Scotland was like 400 years ago. Sean Connery playing a Spanish bloke with a scottish accent!! But it is still the best Christopher Lambert film EVER made! I LOVE IT

this is a true scottish feel good film , that keeps you wonting more ,every time you watch it... lambert at his best and a true love story could not of been written better than mac leod and his wife heather ... if you get chance buy it rent it but watch it soon as possible ... i bought it because i love it and its not on tv that often

the dvd was good but never mentioned about the subtiles not been avalible in eglish. it great to have it on dvd as video was getting worn out

Wanted to add this to the collection and bought at a geat price. One of the sort of films that sticks with you - great escapism. Bit dated perhaps today with all the CGI about but great acting and storyline. Sean Connery as a Portugese nobleman born in ancient Egypt - worth watching for that alone!
