I bought this because the fabulous Viggo Morternsen is in it! (Sad I know)

However, it is a great wee film. Simple story - former Pony Express rider Frank T. Hopkins (Mortensen) and his horse Hidalgo are famous for their endurance rides, til they deliver the orders for Wounded Knee. Filled with remorse (as he is half-Indian) Frank becomes a drunk and a parody of himself in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. That is until a sheik (Omar Sharif - fabulous) hears of the boast that they are the best riders over distance and challenges them to prove it in a cross-desert race.

A funny and heartwarming film with touches of Indiana Jones. Viggo Mortensen is cool - he speaks Lakota Sioux in ths one. However the star of the film is TJ, the horse who mainly plays Hidalgo - what a lovely animal. Viggo obviously agreed, because he now owns TJ!

Look out for the Easter Egg - a short film about wild horses.

it's a good movie, basaed on a true character. the photography is amazing, the arabic desert, and the story is well developed, never over the top. good acting for viggo mortensen and omar sharif. i really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Having missed the first half of this film I was intrigued enough to purchase a copy via eBay. I was not disappointed - an exciting film about an interesting character - Frank Hopkins, who championed the cause of the wild Mustang horses and supported the American Indians. For a rather more serious view of what Frank Hopkins achieved I would recommend the website:frankhopkins.com. Some violent scenes of battles at Wounded Knee and distressing accidents to the horse, but it does end in success.

Hidalgo is a high spirited action adventure,in the style of the epic'Lawrence of Arabia'but not as long,with some amazing CGI special FX,based partially on a long distance US horse rider,by the name of Frank T Hopkins and his mustang,(Hidalgo).Viggo Mortensen gives an excellent performance as Hopkins and there's some truly nail biting action set pieces,dotted throughout the plot.The film isn't slow,but relatively fast paced and beautifully shot against some superb desert location scenery.I couldn't help noticing that some of the plot ideas seem to borrow or were inspired by such action romps as the 'Indiana Jones'trilogy and the recent'Mummy'films,which prompted me to check it out,as I do enjoy these sort of movies,but in no way did this detract from my overall enjoyment of the film.The use of subtitles,in some scenes was a bit distracting and the 'Special Features' on the disc should have been improved and included a trailer,but this is only a minor criticism.If it's pure action escapist entertainment you're after,then look no further.The film delivers on all fronts.

it was very good and amusing a fantastic film to watch over and over again. i never get tired or bored of it. i love this film and it is one of the best films i have ever seen.

The start of the film I felt was a bit slow. However if you are a horse lover this is a must film and on the whole thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly reccommend.

The dvd was dispatched very quicklty by the seller; The dvd is excellennt condition & it was a very good buy.

i love the idea of the bond between the hero and his horse and how they went through absolutely everything together,the good and the bad times.I have a huge love for horses,the middle east and action/adventure movies.

based on a true story,this film takes you through all the emotions.
belevable characters,good family film.

Love the Horse! the other actors arn't bad either.... a bit of romance but not too slushy! and of course the underdog wins the day! but isn't that always the way in Hollywood!

I bought this DVD for my Dad for christmas because i knew it was a very good film and that he would love it, and as it happens both my mum & dad raved about how good it was and that i should borrow it off them.
