Excellent music from the 80s, I bought it because I havent heard it for many years and it has been dearly missed.
The digital mix has been done very satisfactually not destroying the original sound.
Recomentd everyone to listen to the solo saxaphone on "WILL YOU".

I had forgotten about this album, which I used to have as an LP, and how much I liked it. It has one of the best Sax tracks of all time in 'Will You' and some great lyrics, particularly in 'blackman' ''eighth day' and 'monsters in disguise'. It has many shades of the feelings of helplessness and despair which gave rise to the Punk era.
I heard Hazel o'Connor on the radio the other night, and she has done a remix of this with a penny whistle instead of the sax, it is pretty dire, but this original was great.

Now I must confess I have been madly in love with hazel for many years but for some reason I never got around to buying this great CD. Of course I have seen the film Breaking glass many times, The track that really stands out is "Eighth Day" which has to be in my top ten all time records. Warning if you dont like punk then you may not like this CD...

  something classy from the 80's - a rare thing+

If you thought that most popular artists from this time didn't concentrate much on the quality of the songs but were more concerned with image .. this should change your mind. classic songs from a film that pretty much captured a moment in time when things weren't as P.C as today or as glossed over.
Eighth Day being the song to break Hazel O'Connor on to the scene is still worth listening to. The true classic songs on this LP are by far Will You with it's awesome sax solo that couples so well with the emotional lyrics delivered with true meaning by Hazel . The other highly crafted number is Calls The Tune lyrics 10/10 delivery 10/10.
those are the highlights but as an album of songs produced solely to fit into a movie there really isn't any better movie score out there.

  BREAKING GLASS BY HAZEL O'CONNOR

I heard the track EIGHTH DAY on the radio and I had a flashback of the film from the 80's so I thought I've got to get that! Picked it up off e-bay brand new for under a fiver and was not disappointed. Loved the tunes I remembered like the classic WILL YOU? and WRITING ON THE WALL but now have lots of extra favourites like the brilliant BLACKMAN and WRITING ON THE WALL etc A brilliant blast back to the punky side of the 70's / 80's - LOVED IT!!

Pure 80s nostalgia with 21st century quality

Nearly 30 years ago I saw the film at the cinema and loved it. Haven't seen it since or heard the album since. So I decided it was time to revisit my youth. Although the content is "tame" by today's appalling standards, it still conveys the anarchic message and the music is still relevant, unfortunately. If you think 1984's Big Brother threat is a new concern to todays' youth, think again. Must say the film now comes accross a bit like a West End musical production and think that if Lloyd Webber got hold of it he wouldn't have to change much to convert it to the stage. Enjoy.

  A blast from the past

This sound track is for me a real 'blast from the past'. It was a film that my mum watched on many occasions when I was younger and as a result I still know the words to each of the songs. It was great to find it on Ebay at a reasonable price. I can only say if you were or still are a Miss O'Connor fan then it's certainly one to add to your collection.

  Hazel O'Connor CD

I was very pleased to be able to find the Hazel O'Connor Breaking Glass CD on Ebay. I can't really say too much about it as I bought it for my husband as he kept mentioning Hazel O'Connor but I didn't think I would be able to get hold off it for him. He is very happy with it & has it in his car. She was only ever really famous for one of the songs but the rest of the songs are good as well. The title of the CD is the same as a film in which Hazel starred so you will probably find alot of the songs are from the film if you ever saw it.
I will say that whatever I want to buy be it clothes, shoes, gifts etc I can usually find it on Ebay & cheaper than elsewhere.

  A Classic !

The Experience Is Shattering!

It's a tough decade, it's a harsh life. Only the hardest make it, or the hardest pushed. But sometimes it drives you over the edge - it's just the music industry...

Set agianst a raw background of gang riots, anarchy and the seedy streets of strife-torn London, 'Breaking Glass' is a musical morality tale which captures the raucous energy of the punk era.

"Do you want to spend your life waiting outside a lavatory?" With this immortal come-on line Danny (Phil Daniels), a would-be manager, fast-talks aggressive punk singer Kate (Hazel O'Connor), into letting him boost her career.

Recruiting an oddball band, they play the sleazy North London pub circuit. The audiences respond to the ferocious Kate and her hard-edged songs. As she and Danny become lovers, they hit the big time with an extraordinary concert at London's Music Machine.

But success has its down-side. Signed up by a record company giant, the band splits and Kate becomes swallowed up in the ruthless manipulation of its publicity machine. As she falls victim to the image of her own songs, pressure is piled upon pressure - and something has to crack...

A raw slice from an extraordinary era, 'Breaking Glass'features an impressive supporting cast including Jonathan Pryce, Jon Finch and Richard Griffiths.

But it is Hazel O'Connor who gives the performance of a lifetime, managing to capture the essence of the London punk scene of the late 70's.
