A fun group who don't take themselves too seriously. Hayseed Dixie turn in excellent renditions of many rock classics using the instruments of the deep south. All with a lavish helping of tongue in cheek humour. Hayseed Dixie are proof that some Americans really do have both intelligence and a good sense of humor. Well worth a listen.

unusual
) As a long time lover of many different styles of music from rock and blues through country back to bluegrass and old timey I was surprised when this crossover style came out. The quality of the musicianship is outstanding and impressive to say the least. How they thought of this way to combine rock and bluegrass I shall never know but, no question, it works. Outstanding.

) This is covers at their best. The band are clearly loving playing these tunes. Their interpretation of well know rock tracks is unique.
I had heard of the band, but it was'nt until a mate played me a cover of a Green Day song, by Hayseed Dixie, that I actually understood just how clever these guys are.
The album is brilliant and I would recommend it to anybody who enjoys rock music played by musicians who love playing.

Let There Be Rockgrass - Hayseed DixieI stumbled on this group purely by chance, I bought a discounted sale album of the group which was the 'Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC'. Hilly rock, now that might have been good for a laugh. Low and behold, they were rather good at covering the Rock music I adore, in a hick-yeah missisippi cajun way! So I looked on ebay for other albums by the band and snapped up a couple.
The 'Let There Be Rockgrass album' is a mixture of Live songs and some studio songs which have been seen on the band's other albums. The songs are once again arvellously done and the live songs just give a clue to how accomlished the musicians can be. So a chance opportunity to listen to some other influence has paid off and I have found another band whose originality is both listenable and enjoyable. I want to get my hands on a KISS tribute thats out and about but none of the music stores seem to stock the band - Guess its going to be ebay again!
