All right, I'm not going to bore you with an in-depth analysis of Halloween. In our review archives we have no less than eleven reviews featuring the Halloween series, two of which already focus on the original film. Nothing I can say can add any more depth on the subject—Halloween may be the #1 horror film in the past 25 years that's been analyzed to death by scholars, film students, and critics. The damn thing is scary, and you don't need me to tell you that. If you want to see the one that started it all, Halloween is your only ticket to ride.

  Corny but fun

I like this movie as it is one of the classic corny horror movies of the past. All the characters are dumb and always go the wrong way but you cannot help but watch it still. Do not watch this movie if you want a fright but it is great for a few laughs.

  A Class film

A good, suspenceful movie that spawned one of the most popular and long lived slasher series ever. A classic! Abit dated but worth another look.

When he was only six years old, Micheal Myers killed his sister with a large butcher knife. He spent the next fifteen years in a mental institution, where his therapist spent eight years trying to cure him before realiseing that he was "pure evil" and spent the next seven years making sure that he stayed locked away for life. But on October 31st 1978, Micheal Myers escaped, hellbent on a murder spree, climaxing in the one-by-one murders of Lorrie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her friends.

Althought it is not very violent (and not bloody at all) and the death scenes are quite tame by todays standards, Halloween is still a scary movie (made even creepier by the chilling musical score) and one of the first in the slasher genre. Deffinatly worth a watch, the start of a great series.

John carpenters halloween is a classic and an amazing alasher film.
I love basically the whole idea and the whole film it was filmed briliantly considering a low budget but with this he has created a legend. michael myers is probably my favourite killer of all the killers in all the films out, He is actualy scary unlike most killers and has a good backstory. The film plot where michael kills his sister when he is a kid and is then imprisoned for 15 years until he escapes and goes after laurie and her friends is a great plot the twist you find out about in the sequel is definitely surprising and just makes the whole idea better.I dont think i dislike anything about the film. I brought it because i had all the others on dvd already and needed the first so i saw my opurtunity and brought it without a second thought but all in all the film is a classic and amazing and i recommend it to all slasher or horror film fans.

THIS FILM WAS MADE ON A BUDGET OF ONLY around £20,000 but what a film!

DONALD Pleasance is superb, the atmosphere is revelling in mystique and horror, it beats some of the new horror films of today.

John Carpenter has a special talent for atmosphere, IN HIS FILM THIS DIRECTORS IS SUPERB! if you get the chance take a look at THE FOG 1980 also, back to this film: Michael Myers is the blood thirsty figure, you really cannot explain what he is?, part demon?, part ghost? who knows?, but get the latest versions and you will see, i love this film, it has some overtones of the 1950s horror films mixed in as some scenes are a bit tacky, but you will enjoy, this one HAS THE GREAT Jamie Lee Curtis SHE is introduced and what an introduction, this film is amazing, the mask of Michael Myers was based allegedlly on william shatners' face of captain kirk of Star Trek, so keep your look out for that!

The Film is a hit, buy it! it will have you hooked! and really it has quality and for any horror fan, this is a must in your collection! Buy it on ebay!

5/5 AWESOME FILM!!!

  Halloween 25th Anniversary DVD 2003
Review created: 03/12/06

In my humble opinion this is the "Daddy" of all horror/slasher films. Made on a shoestring budget and released in 1978 by the famous director, John Carpenter.

The film grips you immediately, when we are first introduced to the evil Michael Myers - 15 years after he knives his sister to death, he returns home to Haddonfield, to carry on where he left off! "Scream Queen", Jamie Lee Curtis is his unfortunate victim this time and along with the incredible musical score, her performance is very memorable.

I purchased it for my father's birthday, back in October but I have watched this movie on countless occasions and it still has the unique ability to make me jump!!
