HTC HTC Touch Dual Slider Smartphone (unlocked)

What I love about this phone:
1. this is the only windows mobile phone that comes with slide out keypad
2. the touch screen technology is great
3. the processor is superfast
4. the design is excellent (suitable for women, not for men)

Things lack:
1. i hate the fact that this model has no WiFi connection.
2. the camera pixels is not so great

This phone will probably suit you best if you just don't get on with a totally touch screen phone. This is the reason I was drawn to it. However having said that the touch screen interface it does have works well. Much better than previous touch screen phones I've used such as the Samsung Omnia.

What I liked:
* Physical slide out keypay.
* HTC's Touch Flo 3D Interface
* Built in Stylis
* Clear and useful home screen
* Copy and Paste
* Sync with Windows Live contacts
* Direct Push Email

What I didn't like:
* Camera only 2.0 Megapixels
* No Camera flash
* USB Headphone socket
* Media player limited functions

What you might not like:
* No WiFi
* On screen qwerty is small
* No accelerometer and difficult to switch manually.

Phone is a great all in one device although the setup/manual is a little confusing.
Once you get rid of the Orange interface its much easier to use (My opinion)
Little on the heavy side, good battery life with medium usage, clear screen and quick response time.

One of the best phones i have owned upto yet. Ive had many phones but this one tops it all. I recommend that if your looking to buy a new phone then get one which uses windows mobile software! it really is unbeatable!

This smartphone oozes quality workmanship and you can tell it was designed and made to impress the mobile phone enthusiast!!
As a top hole mobile phone when it was released in 2007 it would have been ahead of its time but with the advancements in mobile phone technology being stretched all the time at present it is now a mid range phone.
It has a lovely touch screen that is very responsive using touch flo technology like all other HTC models, but with a smaller screen at 2'8in you are better off using the included stylus that sits neatly and very discretely in the side of the phone.
Navigation is easy and smooth through its menu system, It runs the Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system which some critics dislike but If you like Windows then you will love any mobile phone operating a mobile version of Windows, personally I do like it quite a lot it gives you a mass of features and functions that you wont get on rival operating systems.
Its camera is less impressive so if your looking for a camera phone forget it as it only has a 2megapixel camera.
The mobile phone still looks very current amongst todays market and it has reasonable onboard memory and you can bolster it up by an 8gb micro SD memory card too which is more than enough for most people I assure you!!
If your lucky enough you can stilll get your hands on a HTC TOUCH DUAL either second hand in very good condition or even brand new still boxed if you shop around online from around £90 and for the money thats a bargain!!

If ever you purchase a touch screen device, check weather it is fitted with a screen protector. If it is remove it, (they are not expensive to replace) you never know what they can hide.

My experience in this purchase was that the screen was badly scratched as if it had been carried in a pocket with change.

On a positive note if you fit a device with a scratched screen with an Exim screen protector it is almost as good as new.

got this phone for my romanian brother in law, romanians are even more crazy about phones than my young neice.
The phone over all is very very good, but not as good as my Iphone, the reason is the iphone is so easy to use, the htc has the largest instruction book I have ever seen for a phone.
But over all it is a great phone for work, if you need a phone for spread sheet and the like, it is a little notebook with a phone in it.
the only bad point I could see is you need a day to read the instructions for everything this phone can do.

It was very easy to setup and use, it's got a good battery life and it's not too big, so you can put it in your pocket.

Being a Windows Mobile Device, you can easily sync it with all your contacts, your calendar, emails and documents. Plus lots of software can be installed.

The only thing missing is built in wireless and gps.

WHY I BOUGHT IT:
Following the death of my Nokia I bought a Samsung U600, which was a neat but pretty basic phone, As I took over more responsibility at work I needed something with better organizer functions. Another thing on my wish list was a proper e-mail client.
I didn't really want a phone with a touch screen at first but given that the touchscreen phones all have lovely large screens I decided to go for something that has both a touch screen and a keyboard.
As a friend of mine was looking to get a smartphone himself and I weeded through the available options with him I stumbled across the HTC Touch Dual and loved the design enough to decide that this was what I was going to get.

WHERE I GOT IT: Used item on Ebay. Smooth transaction, couldn't have been any better.

WHAT I LIKED: The combination of having the touch screen for basic navigation and a hardware keyboard for text input is a winner. I don't like on-screen keyboards even though I have small hands, not only because I find it awkward to type on them but also because if they are of decent size they take up half of the screen. The suretype keyboard (I had the 20-key version) took a bit to get used to though.
HTC managed to give the heavily dated interface of Windows Mobile a new life with their TouchFlo interface and custom home screen. The phone doubled as my alarm clock, weather station and e-mail client. Google maps was another frequently used application, even without GPS and I used a good amout of other third party apps to tweak thngs here and there.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE THAT MUCH:
The battery life is not great but I am a heavy user and for that it holds up OK, I had to recharge it every night.
If you are looking to get a phone with a decent camera the Touch Dual is not the right choice, it has a 2MP fixfocus camera with no flash. Didn't bother me, I have a separate digital camera.
What could have come in handy was WiFi, given the growing amount of wireless hotspots.
But the worst of all is that beneath all the HTC gloss it's still Windows Mobile, a system that hasn't quite caught up with the rapidly evolving competition. It works flawlessly if you use manly Microsoft stuff (messenger, e-mail) and a lot of third party applications exist to improve functions (calendar interface) or make it play nice with external sources (Google products). However, it lacks the snappy responsiveness and effortlessness I have seen on other Systems.
And this is precisely why I am now, after a year, passing this gem on to the next person.

WHY I AM SELLING IT:
As mentioned above, with the rapid development of competing OSes for mobile phones Windows Mobile feels increasingly clunky. Whether I like the iPhone or not, I have to grudgingly admit that it is actually fun to use. Handset manufacturers like Nokia and Samsung put more thought and functions than ever in their proprietary systems and the speed at which Android is maturing is mind-blowing.
What really tempted me to switch was seeing how flexible these systems are as far as availabilty of third-party applications goes, as well as the possibility to seamlessly integrate social networks like Twitter and Facebook, which I catch myself using more and more.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Eventually I decided to stick with HTC and purchased a Dream, also known as the T-Mobile G1. I had been tinkering with a test installation of Android on my Dual's flash card for a while and am genuinely impressed with hw refined this relatively young system already is.
