Guns 'N' Roses - Chinese Democracy

Mad Axl took SO long to get this album out that two other artists (Kitty & The Kowalskis, and Warrior Soul) actually released albums called 'Chinese Democracy' before he did! Was it worth the wait? Not really.
It's actually a good album, but not THAT good. Axl's voice is the ONLY thing on this album that sounds recognisable as 'Guns 'N' Roses'. There are some good songs, but nothing that matches up to most of 'Appetite...' or the best of the '...Illusion' albums. I appreciate Axl's efforts purely as an artist and understand why he needed to make this album, but I really don't think he should have called it 'Guns 'N' Roses' because it just isn't. It's not that band anymore and hasn't been for a long time - this isn't an album that was made by a 'band' at all - it's simply an Axl Rose SOLO album and he should have put it out as such. After all, he is still a big enough 'name' in his own right and should be able to stand on his own two feet instead of relying on the former glories of his old band. This is why I refused to buy this album new and give him the credit of a sale - unlike Velvet Revolver who I am happy to support. So that's why I waited and picked it up on eBay at a knock down price istead of giving Axl the satisfaction of an extra sales figure. Wow - I bet he's still reeling from that! That said, I am very pleased with my £2 purchase and it was well worth the money. I'm so glad I didn't buy it new though...
