the reason i bid on and won this item was simple. i did not own a guns cd, and i just read a book about slash the lead guitarist and just wanted to here how he played and how good he was it is so easy on ebay you just enter the albums name and there were dozons on offer you just place a fare bid and if you win you know you,ve had a bargin and you haven,t even had to leave the house to buy it.

This album includes some great (well known) songs, such as: "Paradise City"; "Welcome to the Jungle"; and "Sweet Child o' Mine".

A great addition to an existing CD collection, or a great CD to start off a collection... well, aslong as you like the Guns n Roses style of music that is!

(The only downside to the whole CD is the quality of the sound. As is stated on the back of the CD, this album was originally recorded on another format so when it has been put onto CD some of the original recorded quality has been affected. Nothing major though, the sound is still awesome!)

  essential listening.....for everyone.

truly amazing record, one of my all time faves. if you dont like this stuff, you are truly tasteless, because this band defined the 80's, and shook up the music world just enough to grease the path for the grunge revolution, even though they were considered 'glam', they never really were, they were more 'filthy' than pretty.

i cannot recommend this highly enough. its an essential in everyones collection.

  The best debut album
Review created: 05/06/09

One of the best if not THE best debut album ever. It's the fastest selling debut album ever and you can see why.
This album contains many of Guns N' Roses most well known tracks including Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle. If you've never listened to Guns N' Roses before, then this would be the perfect starting point. If your a Guns N' Roses fan and don't have this album, then you'd better sort yourself out and buy it as quick as you can!

Overall, in my opinion this is their best album. Contains many of their best and most well known tracks, doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Just a plain simple album packed full of some of the best tracks they ever made. Recommended to fans and newbies alike!

Review created: 27/03/09

Quite simply, this is the best album I have ever heard. No other album, especially a debut, has the amount of memorable, superb tracks on it as this, or at least that I've anyway. Anyone who is a fan of rock or not should own a copy of this, it really is a piece of musical brilliance.

Guns And Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Review created: 08/02/09

Given what a joke these guys later became, it's easy to forget how great they once were, however briefly. Roaring out of L.A. and boosted greatly by MTV, Guns n’ Roses’ first album inexorably took the world by storm. Sporting an Aerosmith-induced hard rock sound with just the right amount of grime, the album featured a variety of catchy, powerful songs and was a welcome respite from the pretty, unthreatening “hair” bands that were dominating the rock scene of the late ‘80s. Reveling in rock n’ roll decadence, the band brought some much needed excitement and attitude back to rock n’ roll, immediately becoming one of the biggest bands in the world in the process.

  Best Album Ever? Discuss...
Review created: 08/03/08

The best GNR album before they got famous and carried away. Raw and undiluted. Every song a classic. Best song is Rocket Queen right at the end. Possibly the best song ever written.

Worth it for the one track
Review created: 08/03/08

I bought this album on CD to replace an LP version, specifically so that I could have access to one of the greatest rock tracks of all time - Sweet Child O' Mine.

That particular song sounds as good as ever and justifies the investment.

The rest of the album is big and loud with some obvious highlights including Paradise City but I always keep coming back to the one track...

This in my opinion is the best GnR album available. Quality tracks such as Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City and Sweet Child of Mine are all time classics plus mix in Rocket Queen, Mr Brownstone and Nightrain and its very hard to beat for 80's rock at its best...

Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction CD
Review created: 31/12/07

I bought this cd as it's one of my all time favorites and I only had it on tape, this is their first, and in my opinion G'n'R's best album. It reminds me of my late teens, and my first taste of independance!

  Greatest Rock and Roll Album
Review created: 30/01/07
by:

Having been given an introduction to GN'R through the greatest hits album I found AFD cheap in Woolworths so decided to buy it then. What a decision that turned out to be, the most influential album from the most dangerous band of the 80's and 90's. Every song would fit onto any other band's album as the best of the bunch. From anthems such as Paradise City and Welcome To The Jungle, through the ballad Sweet Child O' Mine to hard hitting heavy rock songs like Nightrain, Out Ta Get Me, My Michelle and Rocket Queen this truly is a all thriller no filler album from the top drawer.

Lyrics: Express a true and undeniable life in the LA rock scene of that time in a new, unexplored manner which perfectly encapulates emotions, feelings and experiences in a way previously unknown. They are raw and energetic.

Music: The musicianship is unbelievable as dangerously difficult notes, riffs and licks on the guitars are reached, rhythms are maintained with ferocious accuracy, and the binding bass is undeniable throughout

Review created: 03/07/06

This is the best cd I own. Every track could of been released as a single.
Night Train , Mr.Brownstone, Rocket Queen all amazing tracks with stunning vocals from Axl as well as superb guitar from Slash and Duff.

The album is strong throughout with no track to dislike.

Apparently this album still shifts 10,000 units a week.

Not bad considering it was released in 1987 !!!

Buy it,
