Groundhogs - Split [Remastered] (CD 2003)

eBay has opened up a whole new world for music lovers like myself. It has given people all over the world access to music from a bygone age that i thought could only be heard on 12" or 7" record. Although my record collection is still intact i choose to listen to my favourite music on digital cd. The above album Split by Tony Mcphee (Groundhogs) i bought to bring back those feelings of youth and raw exciting musical enthusiasm that is lacking in a lot of today's music. This is Tony Mcphee at his best (in my opinion) and anyone wishing to get a taste of what Groundhogs are all about should start here. Far from the run of the mill melodic pop that flooded the early 70's charts this opened new boundries and challenged even the more renowned bands of the day like Hendrix, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Groundhog-Split is up there with the best of them.
I now have most of my record collection on CD and look forward to my next purchase. Bring it on.

I have this on vinyl but wanted it on CD. This is a great remaster with additional live tracks that show the unpredictable nature of the groundhogs live(still an issue today!). The original album was the theme tune to my teenage years! Also great is Thank Christ For The Bomb and Who Will Save The World. The other Groundhogs albums are good too but these are the 'classic' three and no collection of 70's rock is complete without them. So buy it and stop procrastinating!!

what can you say about the groundhogs? they seem to be around for ever, the split album was the best album ever made, even got on top of the pops, with cherry red, i think i wore my album out, thats why i am buying it on cd, this three piece band was the best line up, that tony mcphee had

A great album from 1970. Tony McPhee's guitaring is superb. Was one of the first albums i bought back in 1971. Cant wait to hear split part 2 and Cherry Red again.
