Gran Torino, if Carlsberg made films....

The movie starts quite typically, the racial tension of an old man stuck in his ways, useless family and even worse grand kids, all trying to get along in the fish tank we all call life. The story moves along at a fair pace and its never going to take you places you have not been a thousand times before, think Karate kid or some such similar film, but what makes it different is the endearing nature of Eastwood in the lead role, its also refreshing to see modern life through the eyes of the older generation. Where the film slipps is in the acting of Eastwoods side kick, he comes across as a spoilt kid on christmas day, he knows hes got to be there, but wants to make it known hes not happy. Overall the film was a great story and easy to sit down and watch, but as I say, just dont go expecting some great movie revelations, nothing in this movie will move you to change your life drastically, give up your wordly goods and join greenpeace, its just a nice film to watch maybe with dad, where he can repeatedly point at the screen and inform you that some older people can still defend themselves against these hoodies he's been reading about in the Daily Mail.
