On Golden Pond
This is a classic film, with star actors..I remember watching this film many years ago, and loved it, so bought it for nostalgic reasons.
I believe this was Henry Fonda's last film, he was ill during the making of it, and this is obvious. The film concerns the tenuous relationship between father and daughter, and shows how past slights, failures and missed opportunities have had significant influence, on the daughter, into adulthood. The father is terminally ill, and they are together, in a familiar holiday setting, which evokes past memories, and emotions, and the opportunity to heal wounds. The difficult relationship between he and his daughter is said to be reflective of their relationship in real life, and I can't help wonder whether this film enabled them to bridge the gaps. It is touching tribute to a great actor..poignant, sad and elating..and I would recommend it to everyone.
