Report this review Reviews Review created: 27/09/08 by: What can I say. Strength and honour - this says it all. It's actually a very good film. The acting is second to none. The story line is second to none. If any of you out there have ever served in the forces you will understand how close and strong people can come together when it matters. As for the civi population - forget it. They are too interested in their own selves to think about other people or even care for that matter. The times in this film are well depicted but felt gone forever. Bring back national service. Sorry guys - just had to let off some steam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have never seen this film then watch it - even if you don't agree with it's sentiments I am sure you will enjoy it. A+++++ Review ID: 10000000008819860 Was this review helpful? Report this review Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes. Review ID: 10000000007248320 Was this review helpful?
