Giant Sand - Is All Over...The Map (CD 2004)

I like Giant Sand, their music is laid back sometimes to the point of hardly moving at all and conjures up images to me of wide open spaces, heat and ramshackle bars and ranches. I would also describe them as part left field alternative country, although their remit goes beyong labels such as that.
I already had two Giant Sand cd,s and purchased this purely because I had heard the fantastic track "travelling around the sun at remarkable speed". This cd differs from the others I have owing to a wider variety of styles (Jazz, broken beats, folk, punk)which in part makes it less easy to listen to in one sitting and better for picking out tracks according to mood. Altogether an interesting cd and worth buying for a few stand out tracks. look out for a totally different "anarchy in the uk"
