Sven Goran Erik-Sun

Wow! A wonderful night for English football. Sven may have made an acrimonious exit as England Manager, but at least he left us with this memory.
It starts badly. Germany score the opening goal after 5 minutes, and it looks like we are on for a hiding. The German supporters are in full voice, and start cheering everytime the ball is passed to a German player. Germany try playing "keep ball", but fortunately their fun is about to end.
Owen scores a hat-trick in possibly his best England performance. He was full of energy, and gave the German defence a huge problem in marking him. Gerrard scored a vital goal, in extra time at the end of the first half.
England went into the dressing room at half time 2 goals against Germany's one.
But as England fans will tell you, it was still too early to relax, we have been through this many times before. And remember, this was in Germany, they were on home ground, and they were not used to losing at home.
Second half was the best England performance for many a year. 3 goals, one from Heskey, and another two from Owen to claim his hat-trick. Germany was in shock! The German fans were leaving the game early. Never had they witnessed such a drubbing by a visiting team.
An important match, it was a qualifier, and England routed the current group leaders. Smiles all around the England camp, Sven had delivered a great England performance.
And the next morning all I can remember hearing is;
"what time is it? Oh yeah, it's five past Germany"
