Genesis - Platinum Collection (CD 2004)

Having got into Prog through bands such as Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, it was pretty logical to pick up something by Genesis along the way. But where to start? This set was the key to me, covering the highlights of Genesis' career over three discs. And it is awesome, though I rate disc 3 higher because it features the work of Peter Gabriel with songs like The Knife, Supper's Ready and The Musical Box.
Great value for money too.

As an old timer who still remembers watching Genesis live with Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford sitting on stools for the whole show. this compilation held some fears as 60% of the content is post Gabriel. I was not dissappoited, the first two discs are full of 'Genesis Pop Band' and it is difficult to listen to without a tear in your eye. The third disc is almost worth the price as it does have some gems on it. New mixes of standards are good and to hear The Knife in real sterio is wonderful. If you can get it cheap buy it, but only if you are willing to own up to beng a Genesis fan.

I have been a Genesis fan for a very long time.I have listened most of their albums on tapes,but even then their music sounded really amazing.The current collection contains most of the greatest titles of the band.I recommend these discs to everyone who wants to listen to some quality music.

was lokking for this for a long time, am so pleased with it have played it over and over, it was in excellent condition and had no problems with the seller, it was delivered in good time and would buy from thiem again

Im big Genesis fan and there soloprojects : Mike and the Mechancis, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins and Tony Banks. Its a great CD. Why ? THis CD have a great sound. All the areas from 1970-1996. The CD havent the live hits. I like this CD collection. Its new remastert.

As a Genesis fan I had all these tracks other albums, but I had to buy this in order to get Paperlate in the CD version. The track was only available on EP and I haven't been able to get it in CD format. Paperlate itself is an outstanding track, but this three CD set includes lots of classics. Supper's Ready is probably Genesis' most triumphant track, and lots of Phil Collins is mixed in with Genesis classics. A very good buy.

yes my favourite genesis, what a band concept album from foxtrot to i can't dance and more the songs on this are enormous superb, i could go on for hours talking about this compact disc. For all Genesis Fans who have probably bought every album going this is one for you and the listeners who are not sure? give this album a try and buy-it! Peter Gabriel was one of my favourite lead singers, then phil collins, RAY WILSON was a fantastic lead vocal, and i was dissapointed that they did not make anymore albums with him, Calling all stations album was instrumental a new era, alas PHILL COLLINS IS BACK WITH GENESIS!!! THIS ALBUM WILL BRING back so many memories and the production is out-standing! Get the DVD version also you see phill collins smoking a pipe! wow! This album is a 5! wish i could give 10 but i can't............dance....sorry........

I bought it because I had just bought my husband tickets to see Genesis Live this year at Old Trafford, and I figured that although he has nearly all Genesis records that were ever made, he would be able to play them all on one cd on the journey up to Manchester on the day of the concert to get in the mood! I always do this.

Infact I spend an absolute fortune on myself when I went to see George Michael in December!! I bought the tickets/programmes before the show/tee shirts/cd/dvd's all before the UK launch dates - & my god!! was he worth it !!!

If you are new to genesis,then this is the perfect place to start.With songs spanning the entire genesis career,its ideal to help you decide which line up you prefere!There are also a few hard to find tracks on there which makes it good for exsisting fans also.
I would buy this over the other genesis compilation-Turn it on again:the hits-because it simply covers the history of the band far more comprehensively.

this was an excellent buy because it was in great condition and very cheap also i bought it because it came from someone who had a 100% feedback record which made me more confident to purchase.
