Gavin And Stacey - Series 1 (DVD)

Excellent comedy set in my home town of Barry (so seen alot of the filming going on) with a suberb cast, very funny only one thing, apart from Ruth Jones (who is from Cardiff)they didnt really have the Barry accent down sounded more like Swansea (butt)(hee hee)love Matt and James also fab on Big Brothers big mouth. Cant wait for next series.

I have to agree with marksteven17, this is an absolute scream of a programme. I too urged EVEERY SINGLE person i know to watch it and was in love with it so much that i even managed to find James Cordens (writer and also "smithy" in the series) fansite on the web!! I think Gavin and Stacey is one of the best comedy series that the BBC have ever produced and i cannot wait for series 2 which is due to hit screens soon! There is a lot of subtle comedy in it as well as the obvious jokes which is just my kind of thing! My fave character is without a doubt Smithy and i love gavins mum and dad too - the "vegetaria" episode had me in stitches!! The DVD has good extras too, outtakes and also a behind the scenes look at the filming and also insightful interviews with all characters. I'd give this over 5 out of 5!!

Funny, warm, touching, clever and dark. This is a sophisticaed piece of TV that will have every generation of your family in stitches.

i absolutely love gavin and stacey, and i think its one of the few dvd's i could watch over and over again!!! every character is brilliant and hilarious.... best dvd i've purchased!!! i am also a big fan of Rob Brydon.
There is not a single thing i dislike about this series, just cant wait for series 2!

I love this series. I saw it when it was first on BBC3 and raved about it to anybody i knew. The main love story is so sweet and almost innocent but, its the characters around Gavin and Stacey who make this so funny too. James Condon and Ruth Jones as Gavin and Stacey's friends (they also wrote it!) have the best lines.
Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb are just perfect as is Rob Brydon. Enjoy!

Brilliant Dvd, about a couple who meet and have a whirlwind romance, and get married after about eight weeks.
Gavin is from Essex, and Stacey is from Barry Island in Wales.
The welsh family are hysterical, especially Uncle Bryn!
This was so funny, I was literally in tears with laughter. I can't wait to watch series 2.

Classic English/Welsh comedy. Very funny & very true to real life. Had seen episodes on BBC3 & wanted more. The type of DVD you can watch time & time again.

Unmissable award winning series. If you have missed it buy it and catch up ready for series two. Believable, lovable characters with great on-screen chemistry. Its a totally different topic of every day life between two love birds. It could be boring, but it never fails to make you roar with laughter!

This is a series I had heard a lot about when if first came out but I never got round to watching. What a mistake!

From the start you are drawn into the push and pull dialogue as the characters play out their relationships.
There is so much you laugh at here, (and boy did laugh) and as you laugh you quietly understand how closely this mimic’s real life. Perverse but true!

Gavin and Stacey series 1 is a hillarious comedy with great laughs all the way through, i'd reccomend this to any comedy fans. James Corden and Matt Horne at their best!!
