Garmin nuvi 765T GPS Receiver

Awesome, with all the bits and last update label on it. Good photo, write up in plan English....I was hooked.

This Garmin Nuvi surprised me how quickly it catches the satellites, the only thing I do not like about it, is it sometimes gets stuck knowing where we are and I would be forced to turn it on and off several times before It would come back alive and be ready to navigate.

This is great GPS navi system. Highly recommended. Lane assistance is great and 3d buildings also. I am still on test so thats all ;)

Very well laid out icon driven menus and on screen options, large, clear backlit colour display. Has western europe maps contained on built in memory and sd slot for upgrades or photos/mp3 tracks ect. good sound quality from built in speaker or fm transmitter which allows voice directions to be played through car radio. will link up to mobile phone to become in car hands free kit, when linked to my nokia n95 my phone book/contacts list was ported to the garmin so i could dial contacts direct without entering the number, the screen surround has two microphones used for in car calls or for voice dialing.
this garmin is very fast to aquire satelites and verify it's position, setting up routes is easy from a list of POI's or entering postcodes/parts of addresses and this device actually reads out the street names when navigating, very handy when scanning for signposts while driving. although i have not used the lane assist feature i think it will be useful navigating through large roundabouts or multilane junctions. another feature i find handy is when the device is removed from the car bracket it logs it's position before switching off, so you can now take it with you and wander about, and when you want to get back to the car you turn it back on and it has remembered where you parked and will guide you back to the car in pedestrian mode (ie down one way streets the wrong way as you're not driving).
also functions as a photo book and mp3 player (headphone jack included).
has aditional features such as language translator, it can order 2 pints of beer in german! there are basic phrases in most popular european languages and more phrases and languages can be downloaded from garmin.
has a built in calculator and unit convertor. you can even enter your fuel type/price and mpg figures and it will calculate the cost of your journey.
all in all a most excellent device and far better than my old tomtom satnav.
