Garmin Nuvi 200W

After a steady diet of TomTom for the last few years, I needed a new GPS for my bike.
My daughter had just bought a Nuvi 200 and I was quite impressed with the quality and usability.
Having gotten the wraps off, I plugged it into the PC and connectd up to Garmin.com to see what was what.
Registered the unit, a Uk/Ireland model, and was pleasantly surprised to see Garmin offereing me a free full Euro maps upgrade.
Upgraded the firmware and started the map download.
Garmin do things differently to TomTom, especially in the way you manage maps. I plugged in an accessory SD card and set about updating the maps.
Not so successful at first go, I wanted to add Benelux and Nth France maps to the existing UK/Ireland ones - ended up losing all my UK maps!
Once I worked out what it was doing, it was pretty straightforward - the software doesn't add to the existing map set, it replaces it.
Getting the maps onto the SD card was simple - point it to the SD drive letter and everything went on smoothly.
Did a bit of customising - put a bike avatar on in place of the car one, set up security with a pin code and home location as the secure location (if you forget the pin, you can get it to unlock by going to your secure location).
Using the unit is a bit different to TomTom, but once you have gotten the knack it is all straightforward. If I had been using a Garmn from day one it would have been very intuitive, but I had to unlearn the TomTom.
Things I wish I had: Routes - there is no way to import a route, even though it can read the files, it only puts in start and end and one 'via' location, so setting up a route on something like viamichelin and exporting it is a bit of a waste of time. Ability to change colour scheme - it may be there, but if it is, I haven't found it.
Likes: The ability to drive the route in the unit without actually getting a GPS signal is great! The ability to find an address then go to that address and browse the map is fantastic and so much better than TomToms' browse map function.
All in all, a great unit for a budget buy!
There is so much out on the web for Garmin's, such as free POI (hotels, specialist stuff like golf courses, etc.) Free foreign speed cameras, etc. that I doubt I will need to buy any of Garmins' add-ons.
