Garfield - The Movie (DVD 2004)

An entertaining movie that doesn't aspire to be anything else. Garfield's characterization is very good, albeit rather simplistic. Bill Murray did a great job with the voice, it's perfect!
On the other hand, I found the main flaw to be in the fact that the director concentrated on making a movie for kids, rather than for adults which would be more befitting for a Garfield movie. The plot is so simplistic it borders on retarded, and so is most of the "humans" acting. Thankfully though, Garfield's' characters and his gags and lines lift the movie up to the level of decent, watchable entertainment.

I ALWAYS LOVED GARFIELD, EVEN AS A COMIC STRIP CHARACTER, SO WHEN I SAW THIS MOVIE I LOVED IT FROM THE START. ITS HILARIOUSLY FUNNY, WITH LAUGH OUT LOUD MOMENTS ALL THE WAY FROM START TO FINISH.
GARFIELD, AS FANS WILL KNOW, IS OWNER JOHN'S BEST FRIEND. BUT WHEN JOHN DECIDES TO GET A DOG, THE HILARIOUS DANCING AND TRICK PERFORMING ODIE, GARFIELD FEELS SECOND BEST, AND PLOTS TO GET ODIE OUT OF HIS LIFE.
HE SUCEEDS WHEN ODIE IS 'DOG-NAPPED' BY AN EVIL DOG TRAINER, WHO IS AMAZED BY ODIE'S ENTERTAINING SKILLS, AND WANTS HIM TO STAR ON HIS TV SHOW.
GARFIELD FEELS GUILTY, AND BEGINS A JOURNEY TO RESCUE ODIE FROM THE DOG TRAINERS EVIL CLUTCHES, AND IN THE END MANAGES TO SAVE THE DAY.
THIS IS A GREAT FAMILY MOVIE, KIDS AND ADULTS ALIKE WILL LOVE THE EXTREMELY WELL-TRAINED ANIMALS, AND GENERAL HUMOUR OF THE FILM.
EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT TO KEEN ON GARFIELD, I'M SURE YOU WILL LIKE THIS. IT'S DEFINATELY WORTH A LOOK.

I LOVE GARFIELD! i have so many of this hilarious books. his humour is so very much like a cat that if you have one you can totally relate to him. Its like he is telling you what your cat is trying to say. And its so funny....

I was so disapointed with this movie when we rented it shortly after its release.. you would expect it to be a movie for ALL AGES.. but it certainly IS NOT. it is very childish.. Perfect for children but if you are 15 and over AVOID seeing this movie.

The humour is so childish (NOTHING LIKE GARFIELD) it makes you cringe or sigh!

Garfield was also incredibly anoying in this movie and VERY Mean and selfish. i could NOT Warm to this heartless cat whatsoever! How could they make such a movie thats soooooooooooo UNLIKE the witty hilarious cartoon cat?

This is a very good film to watch, especially if you have nothing to do. It is about a lazy fat cat who goes to the city to look for his new friend called Ody. It is a bundle of laughs and a great film!

I bought this film 4 my son he absolutly loves it since i purchased this item weve had 2 buy him a garfield teddy!!!! it was a great item it keeps him quiet 4 a long time he just cant get enough of it!!!!!

I bought this DVD for when my 3 year old grandson when he visited .
He is a very early riser and I thought that he would enjoy watching this film. We all watched it together and I enjoyed watching it as much as he did as did my wife.
Even better I won it on ebay at a knock down price great value at £1.50

i bought it because i had Garfield a tale of two kittens and enjoyed that so much and so did my grandchildren so i got this one too.

It is a good film for younger children to watch. I bought it for my grandchildren who love it. no violence

I did not recieve this DVD and I have tried to contact the seller up to now. She says she sent it but I did not recieve any.

I decided to buy this for my son as he loves to watch this clever funny cat getting up to all sorts.Garfield loves his life until his owner Jon decides to get a dog.Garfield spends every effort to get rid of this dog,Odie,But when he realises just how much Jon misses him,Garfield spends the rest of the movie trying to get him back.

This is an excellent family film! Absolutely hilarious,i adore cats anyway,he is very cute,definately recomended! A++

i brought it for my two children, who watched a friends copy of it, and loved it so much i decided to buy them one.i know they love it and have watched it many times.They have seen it so many times they know the words to it.they like the story line with garfield who rescues odie from the bad man(my sons saying) well he is only 5 yrs old. a well recommended film. much better film than garfield 2.ans the added features are very good to watch to see how they made the film.

My grandson aged 4 absolutely loves this dvd, he watches it over and over again. It is not just amusing to children it's amusing to adults. What can be nicer than sitting with your children/grand children and sharing the humour together. The animation is wonderful, it is up there with Shrek, which is one of the best ever animated humorous films, so Garfield certainly ticks all the boxes.

This is a fantastic family comedy movie. If you can remember the cartoon then you'd love this film. I do!! There is nothing to dislike about this film and it'll make me laugh time and time again!!!
