Fun With Dick And Jane (DVD)

Jim Carry can almost make every film he is in a pleasure to watch, just because he is in it and his face is just absolutly fabulous! He is excellent in this film with his usuall comic reactions and outstanding preformance. Téa Leoni also plays a great part. This is a great movie if you want a nice night out to the cinema or even a quiet night in when its out for rental. Funny, sweet and brings out a lovely point. Enjoy

Those heady days of Carey's madness appear to be getting old. There's no Ace Ventura left in him, Jim Carey's act is growing dull. A bit like this entire movie. The plot is morally at odds with itself, as Dick and Jane embark on a life of serious crime to survive - including armed robbery - and yet they're still positioned in the story as the heroes of the piece... after they deliberately bankrupt someone!

This is a fairly lame movie with few decent laughs. After Carey's magnificent performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I wish he'd aim more towards "serious" acting - the guy clearly has enourmous skill and talent for it - rather than more of the "whacky" stuff which is simply becoming a farce for all the wrong reasons.

Jim Carey was my reason for watching this movie. It was a wholly deflating experience.

Some of the reviews for this film are harsh in my opinion. I saw this at the cinema recently and I loved it. I only regret not taking my 9 year old daughter because she would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Carrey and Leoni are excellent in this, he's not as annoying or silly as he usually is and she is a great supporting actress, loved the disguises they came up with. I found this movie original and fun and I would definitely recommend it as one for all the family.

Dick (Jim Carrey) and Jane (Tea Leoni) are a typical suburban couple. They have a nice house in a development, she works as a travel agent to supplement his white-collar income.

Things change in the blink of an eye when Dick's company folds; his pension has no future and he can't find a job to save his life. Their front lawn is even repossessed! To make matters worse, Jane has quit her job, their house has lost value and all their savings went down along with his former employers.

In increasingly dire straits, Dick has a brainstorm: he'll steal to supplant his income. Jane joins him and soon the dynamic duo is dressing in elaborate costumes and ineptly attempting to make it big on the wrong side of the law!

this film is BRILLIANT! but im not surprised! jim carey is such a talented actor... im a big fan. but the film is not like any other comedy... it is THE comedy... probably the comedy of the year! but ill try not to be too biased! there were some bits that were sort of poor... WHO AM I KIDDING!!! THIS FILM IS THE BEST FILM EVER!

i bought this as a friend recommended it and i can not say a bad word about it . the story line is great and i couldn't stop laughing . there aren't many extras but the movie is great

I bought this because it's got Jim Carrey in it, and he never fails to make me laugh. It's a really good film, with lots of action and unexpected twists. Good cast with Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni and Alec Baldwin, among others.

Highly recommended.

Jim Carrey is back to his best in a comedy high on adrenaline and laughs... well maybe not. Don't get me wrong, Carrey gets the laughs here as part of a bank robbing duo, but this film seems like it is stuck in third gear for large parts, indeed, i got more satisfaction out of the out-takes than the feature, i never thought i would be yearning for another sequal to Ace Ventura, but this average film has pushed me in that direction. Now, where did i put that copy of the mask...

I am a fan of Jim Carrey, I think that he is gifted and this is evident in this film. The film had a daft plot, some funny some not so funny but worth the watch. I decided to buy it because it has been well publicised and friends had recommended it. I think it is certainly watchable but will not hit my top 10 list.

Things change in the blink of an eye when Dick is promoted to vice president of communications at Globodyne, where he has worked for years. His first order of business: to appear on a popular news show about business and money and lend his magic touch to news of Globodyne's earnings. But Dick doesn't know that Globodyne is about to tank, and in the midst of his interview the situation goes from bad to horrendous and he becomes the scapegoat. In the blink of an eye he is unemployed, his pension is bust, and he can't find a job to save his life. Their front lawn is even repossessed. To make matters worse, Jane quit her job as soon as Dick was promoted, their house has lost value, and their savings was in Globodyne stock. Months later the Harpers find themselves in increasingly dire straits. They resort to paying their nanny with appliances, selling all of their possessions and are facing foreclosure on their house when Dick has a brainstorm: he'll start to steal. Jane joins him, and soon the duo is dressing in elaborate costumes and robbing local businesses and homes. When their final job goes bust, they decide to go for the big heist: scamming Globodyne president Jack McAllister.

this dvd had me laughing all the way through.A great dvd to add to your collection.I had already seen this on sky once and when it came up for sale i just had to have it.

i think it is a brill film if you like Jim Carrey this is the film 4 you. it may get a bit boring if you watch it too much but it will still be funny.

Fab funny film we love to watch as a family. we have been meaning to get it for ages. The kids love it as much as us.

Meet Dick Harper (Jim Carrey). He's an employee of a mega corporation on his way up the corporate ladder.

Meet Jane Harper (Tea Leoni). She works at a travel agency to support their middle class lifestyle.

Together, the Harpers have a new house in the suburbs, a son named Billy, a dog named Spot (of course), and a servant named Blanca.

In 2000, Dick's big promotion finally comes. He's now the VP of Communications for his company. He encourages Jane to quit her job to stay home with Billy, an idea she loves.

On his first day in his new position, he goes on a cable outlet to counter the bad news in the media about his company. While he announces to the world that everything is fine, the FCC announces a full-scale investigation and stock prices plummets.

Dick's initial reaction is to not worry. After all, they've got savings. Certainly he can get a new job in a couple months. But as the months go by, nothing happens. All of Dick's former co-workers are also trying to get the limited number of jobs in the area. Dick's desperate attempts to get any kind of job only lead to failure. Finally, out of desperation, Dick and Jane turn to crime. But when they have a chance to get revenge on Dick's former boss (Alec Baldwin), can they pull it off?

this is a brill film,the first time i saw this was when i rented it out and it was that funny that i just had to have it to add to my collection.its a must for any family that like their comedy films.I would definately recommend it.

Jim Carey does not disapoint in this fun family film. Suitable for adults & children, it is a great all-round watch!

This film is jam packed full of comedy

at teh begining its sad and gloom but by the end you will be laughing your socks off.


Dick played by Jim Carrey and Jane played by Teá Leoni are a typical suburban couple. They have a nice house full of top quality goods. Dick is promoted and his first order of business is to appear on a popular news show about business and money.
Globodyne is about to go under so when hes asked in his interview things go from bad to worse.
hes left unemployed along with many others. finding a job is very hard as his work collegues are there at every interview. Jane doesnt have a job as she quit after dick got promoted.
there front lawn is repossessed and items from in the house get sold to pay off there morgage and there nanny.
Dick thinks of a plan > steal from shops
Jane joins him.

i will not reveal the ending as it will spoil it but i would recommend you watch

comedy throughout

This is Jim Carey at his best, with some brilliant laugh out loud moments. It's a great clean film for all the family with a brilliant story line which keeps you firmley backing the down-and-out Dick and Jane until they get what they deserve!!!
Great DVD which is a must for all Carey fans or fans of good classic comedies!!!

slow to get going, and even then there's not much to excite.
the final part of the film, where our heroes attempt to out-scam the embezzler who ruined their lives, is a bit contrived and unconvincing.
overall, this film is a bit of a disappointment zand Jim Carrey never gets into gear.

I BOUGHT THIS FILM SOLELY BECAUSE JIM CARREY WAS IN IT DOING COMEDY AGAIN. I FOUND THIS MOVIE FUNNY IN PARTS BUT TEA LEONI IS NOT MY CUP OF TEA AND REALLY DIDN'T HELP THE FILM ALONG. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER IF JIM HAD A MORE TALENTED ACTRESS TO KICK AGAINST. YOU WILL LIKE IT IN PARTS BUT NOT ONE OF JIM'S BEST WHICH IS A SHAME.

the movie wasn't that bad after all jim carrie is in it the worlds talented actor ever. I bought this film cuz of jim carrie his one of my favourite actor I just love his slapstick comedy films the guy is a legend

i like the comdy in the dvd, alothugh some parts do make you wonder about how it is funny but i bought it and i will neevr regret that choice! buy it now for a good price in stores or ebay! i bought mine for 25p!

another classic performance by jim carrey, this film did a good job at keeping it a comedy as it could have drifted into an action film if they werent careful.
