Story:
Despite repeated warnings to stay away, a group of fun-loving but none-too-bright teenagers set out to reopen the eerie Camp Crystal Lake, which closed 20 years earlier after a series of bizarre and unexplained deaths. Now someone is lurking in the woods, spying on the happy campers, and plotting a gory, grisly revenge on those who would disturb the camp's slumber. A classic of the horror genre.

Couldn't have been ANY better! A+++++++++++++++++++++++

Movie was great, there aren't many '' campsite-horror '' movies, and those who have that location usually are very cool and awesome to watch, as this the very first '' Friday the 13th '' .

Movie hits of with a nice atmosphere where you really get into a situation as if your camping along with them, where there still finishing up on some left-to-do campwork, setting it up for in 2 weeks time 50 kids are gonna stay at that campsite.

Camera follows a new employee on her way to the camp, hitch-hiking and then meets the infamous murderer, and gets slaughtered, KILL # 1 !

1 by 1 every employee gets murdered, but quite astonishing, as you expect it to be 1 of the employees, it is NOT, but the very own mother of a kid who drowned in the lake in the late 1950's.

She's a bit schizophrenic, just like in '' Psycho '', but now the mother is talking as a kid, and not norman as his mother.

The blood & gore and all, that's still forming in this 1st movie of '' Friday the 13th '', but is that really necessary? it is more the eerie, creepy feeling that you get from horror what i like then just alot of ketchup and all thrown into the movie.

Good story, when watching you really get that feeling as if you were a kid in the late '70's camping and all, REALLY enjoyed this movie, 1 of my favorites in a LONG time.

I decided to buy it because i was bored at work browsing ebay (like you do!!) and i spotted it and i remembered it was a film i had watched a few years ago and loved it! so had to have a copy- didnt cost me much so that was a bonus plus the seller was great and sent same day/next day delivery. i would recommend buying this DVD if you like horrors- if not steer very clear! There is nothing i dis-liked about this item.

Thanks for your time and i hope this has helped...in some strange way!

Many thanks

  Friday 13th [1980]

"You're doomed. You're all doomed," Friday 13th [1980]

Released alongside a series of slasher-movies during the late-seventies and early-eighties - including 'Halloween' and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' - all of which were influenced by the original slasher movie, 'Psycho' [1960], this particular film has since increased in popularity and earned itself classic status amongst horror fans worldwide. It has spawned no less than ten sequels [ if you include 'Freddy Vs Jason'] and a TV series.

~ Young Jason Vorhees was drowned in Crystal Lake way back in 1957. A subsequent fire and spate of murders resulted in the camp being shut down. Years later Steve Christy decides to reopen Camp Crystal Lake and hires a new group of councillors to have the place ready for the summer. Ignoring warnings from the local lunatic, they go ahead with the reopening regardless. Things seem to be going as planned until the killings begin again ~

'Friday 13th' is based on the age-old superstition that a Friday falling on the 13th day of any month is considered to be a bad omen. Victor Miller [screenwriter] picked up on this idea and along with Sean S Cunningham [dir.] completed the independent slasher film in 1980. 'Friday the 13th' has since become the most popular franchise in the history of the horror film.

The film offers teenagers indulging in sex, drugs and high jinx; an eerie setting comprising of rain-and wind-torn woods, the silent and still black lake; opposing cinematography - that of the gentle countryside come morning - and a 'whodunit' storyline that will keep you guessing until the finale. A neat twist - suggested by Tom Savini and supposedly stolen from 'Stephen King's 'Carrie' [Brian De Palma; Larry Cohen] - allows for a string of sequels that just keep coming.

With great special effects [Tom Savini - 'Creepshow' & 'The Burning'], a chilling soundtrack [stringed instruments providing a frenetically-paced tempo similar to 'Psycho'], and skillfully executed directing [right up until the end, the murder scenes are shot from the killer's point-of-view] 'Friday the 13th' will make you think twice about your next camping trip.

Stars Kevin Bacon and Betsy Palmer.

This is the one that kick started the horror genre and spawned a bad guy that has been imitated and spoofed so often in countless films.
Jason Voorhees is his name, but it's actually his mum who does the killing in the first film.
Great tension builder and good effects.
A classic.

I bought this item as I have the boxset of Freddy Kruger so thought I would start getting all the Friday the 13th's as I like Jason as well. For a first movie it is not up too much but it may be because of the timing of the movie. There was not a lot of bloods and guts for me!!!
