It was bought for use as a crossword solver - finds unknown letters in place of "?", and solves anagrams. It is a successor to a similar item (from the same maker, and in the same case) which has developed key faults as a result of age and much use.
It is one of the better items for the use of crossword fans, it is quite fast, and happily finds words beginning with the unknown character - not all solvers will do this.
One feature not as good as its precursor is that after entering a set of anagram letters, it won't give a list of shorter words using some of those letters.
Otherwise it is excellent for the purpose, having big keys for easy use.
One not so good feature is the lid hinge, which is easily broken, and which cannot be mended.
It is one of the better items for the use of crossword fans, it is quite fast, and happily finds words beginning with the unknown character - not all solvers will do this.
