Having spent a wonderful few days in glorious sunshine wandering around this fascinating "city" the DVD brought back many memories. If you haven't visited Venice before this DVD is well worth watching to whet your appetite and then see it all come to life before your very eyes!

A passionate and articulate Italian shares his city
Review created: 26/11/09

When I watched Francesco da Mosto present his beloved Venice on the BBC for our viewing delight, it was love at first sight. Luckily my fiance felt the same way!
Venice is a fabulous and magical city, and Francesco is a natural in front of the camera as he shows us some of the city's history, in which his family plays a large part. The programmes left us wanting more, and we have not only rewatched the series several times on DVD, as well as the other excellent programmes that Francesco has gone on to make, but we have also gone back to Venice on numerous occasions since. We are now planning our wedding there, and every guest will be receiving a copy of this DVD before they arrive, in the hope that they will grow to love the city as much as we do.
If you enjoy well-researched documentaries (part travel, part history) and a knowledgeable handsome presenter with a gorgeously sexy Italian accent then you really can't go wrong with this DVD. Buy it!

One of the series' that Franscesco has made, and had plenty of his easy style, but packed with information and some really beautiful photography, just ss you would expect. Fransceso takes you round what is clearly HIS city and passes on his boundless enthusiasm and interest in everything. A thoroughly enjoyable watch

  Superb series

The BBC discovered a natural, charming presenter in Francesco da Mosto, a Venetian architect who delivers a quite superb series on La Serenissima, Venice. Dramatic reconstructions of key events, delightful insights into Venice's great buildings, artists and architects, plus a look at the problems that the city is facing nowadays make this a must-watch sereis for anyone interested in Italy and Venice.
