Flowers In The Attic (DVD 2004)

I just love this film and have found it hard to obtain as a DVD. I have it on video but bought this "paper release" DVD to replace my video. By todays standards this is quite mild as a horror, but boy does it still pack a punch as a psychologic horror. When the book that this film was based on was written (by Virginia Andrews) it caused much controversy due to the topic of child abuse. Its a simple idea, woman looses husband - returns home with her children and the grandmother is evil. She had never approved of the original marriage and therefore despises the children. Hence, locking the children (flowers) in the attic. Quite harrowing if you think too much about the subject but an enthralling horror if you consider the time it was written. Well recommended if you enjoy a psychological drama with good insight into characters and human nature. There are many underlying themes in this story just don't think too much about them!!!

i had seen the film befor, when i purchased this film i thought i was getting the box set with the sequals to it thats why i bought it but dissapointed to find only one

This book is absolutely brilliant, I really enjoyed it, it's the first in a series of 4. However...the film is absolutely awful, I was soooo disappointed, the acting was dreadful and the book was very different to the film. The music throughout the film was like something my daughters would bang out on a broken piano. Really peed off with the film, if you've read the series DON'T upset yourself by watching this cheaply made, gruesome film.

I totally love the film i have done since the first time that i saw it, there is nothing i dislike about film it it a very moving film its very sad how the children get treated just because there mum wants money ITS A GREAT FILM YOU MUST WATCH IT

great film - really does bring the book to life . would recommend to anyone who has ever read the book!!!

very touching film in parts,watched twice on tv and have looked out for it for a while in the shops it is hard to buy in the shops.lovely film worth buying and i got it at a very good price

I read the book many years ago and wanted to see the film adaptation not as good as the book but they never are. But still was good viewing.
