one word discribes flight of the conchords "Hillarious". the idea's and characters in the show is just a great combination of lauths. from the cemistry of the main two characters, jamanine and bret(there acual real names) to the charateristics of the manager, murrey. But its the songs that bret and jamaine have written that fits into each show that steals the show. brillient song writing guys.

One of the best purchases I've made in a while... a dry, mighty boosh-esque duo try to 'make it' in america - with no real sense of direction.
Most of the half-hour episodes are filled with the kind of gags that make you smile on the inside or chuckle away quietly.. but the songs are true gems - they had me on the floor, even though I had seen most of them from their previous stand-up material!
Well worth it!

These guys are just hilariously funny. They are inept (except as musicians and comedy lyricists)but totally endearing. We are used to double acts or ensemble pieces, but this trio......!

A bit like when you join the mafia. Once you are into the conchs you can't get out!!! My wife and I totally love this. X.Jim McQ

  Great Comedy

It was a present for my sister. I found it mega funny and thought she would too (which she did). The dry shiftyness of the characters and their nievety is portrayed excellently

Flight of the Conchords - hilarity from start to finish

This witty and hilarious musical comedy is my favourite thing on television at the moment. Appealing to both young and older audiences, this is intelligent comedy with a different edge. I love it. Buy it.

A fantastic product of New Zealand!
Review created: 11/08/08

I saw a few clips of the Conchord's live performances on youtube and thought the lyrics were fantastic, it prompted me to buy this dvd which I am incredibly pleased and surprised with. Clever lyrics, hilarious, awkward comedy brings a brilliant piece of underated genius.
Buy it!

  Definitely.... In the Top Three....!
Review created: 23/05/08

New Zealand's loveable Conchords are a joy. There are some excellent musical parodies: "Rhymenocerous vs Hiphoppapotamus" is a highlight, as is "Business Time" and "The Most Beautiful Girl... In the Room". Obsessive fan Mel steals nearly every scene she's in, and their hapless manager in the NZ consulate takes David Brent fecklessness to new heights. Rock the Party!

  Classic!
Review created: 01/05/08

I would highly recommend Flight of the Conchords. The humour is quite an acquired taste, however I showed some of my friends the series and now they're all as hooked as I am. I'd say the humour is quite 'English', more like that in the Office than slapstick.

New Zealands fourth most popular digi-folk parady duo!
Review created: 17/03/08

Not only do they perform some amazing comic genius songs, the dialoge and interaction between each of the characters is comedy gold!

I would recommend viewing the stand up performances of these songs available on youtube, and i'm sure the next series commisioned for HBO 2008 in the fall will be esential viewing.

The Conchords EP “The Distant Future” won a Grammy for best Comedy album so is now on my wish list.

wonderful series very quirky with fantastic songs. just brilliant.

The characters are two chaps from Nw Zealand trying to make their band work in New York.

Best bits for me are their weird take on life and love.

YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE THIS. It's unlike any comedy series I've seen before. HBO have done it again.

  Dirty New Zealanders
Review created: 15/01/08
by:

Bret and Jemaine are two 'novelty' musicians trying to make it big in New York with the help of Murray, their moonlighting manager from the New Zealand consulate, and Mel, the obsessive fan who provides 100% of their following.

Throughout the 12 episodes (across 2 dvds) the pair tackle issues such as jealousy, self-esteem, racism and how far good intentions can often lead to unintended consequences.

These themes are all addressed in a range of musical styles, the pair seemingly adept at parodying a vast range of influences from Bowie to Hip-Hop. With each episode featuring one or two core songs based on the developing narrative one might expect these musical deviations to become tiresome after two or three episodes, but the consistent quality of lyrics and production mean that the songs can stand alone as pieces of comedic and artistic brilliance.

The lean but strong supporting cast of characters, clever writing, and obviously high levels of audiovisual production, make sure that the comedic and musical abilities of the two stars are able to shine. One may have to give it time to be fully drawn into the same blocks of New York that the Conchords inhabit, but once there you will not want to leave, and the end of each episode will find you wanting to lose yourself again.

  They've got it going on!!
Review created: 08/01/08

Introduced to these guys by friend of a friend, warmed really quickly to all the characters. Normally musical interludes make me yawn however i find myself humming the tunes and singing the words days later to the amusement of those around me, personal highlight has to be "Bret you've got it going on". Episode with Bowie is too funny!
DVD provides whole of first series.
For anyone who likes slightly surreal songs and there humour bizarre beyond belief, this is a must. Pant wettingly funny!
