Bought it as I received and email with a so called rare footage of Louis Armstrong and Danny Kaye singing together, my husband pointed out that it was not rare it comes from Five Pennies, so I was curious.

Glad I bought it, lovely film.

It's a show from the past. For people who love the music of the Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and Louis Armstrong era this is a MUST! The sound and presentation was great. A blast from the past! Get it and see it!And Danny Kaye was great!

Not only is it a true story, it is the best one of the best films Danny Kaye ever mad. Don't think because it's Kaye it's a comedy, it's not, it's a Weepie and lovely.

The Five Pennies starring Danny Kaye

This was bought for my father,it is an old fashioned weepy,it originally came out in the early 1960's
The file centres round Kaye who is a top trumpet player with the big bands, but gives it all up to look after his sick daughter who contracts polio.
He is coaxed into making a comeback by the late Louis Armstrong, and the film carries on from there,it is an old fashioned story with all of the usual traits, but well worth a watch.....but don't forget the kleenex!!

Sunday afternoon entertainmen for all the family
Review created: 15/01/08

This film is lovely to watch with all of the family, from Great-Granny to the Great-Grandchildren! The story keeps everyone watching, the music is nice to sing along to, and there's not a dry eye in the house...but I wont spoil it by telling you why! (Happy tears of course!) I bought this DVD from a great Ebay seller and we've loved it from the first time we all watched it to the tenth....100th...and however many more times we will watch it in the future!
