Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children (DVD)

I bought this item because I am a big fan of Final Fantasy , and this DVD is a perfect sequel to the videogame. There is so much content packed into it , its unbelievable. The first disc has the movie , what can I say , the graphics are incredible and as realistic as you could possibly get without actually being real!!! The disc also has scenes from the videogame for those who are unaware of the background of the story from where the movie picks up from. Very useful for those who haven't played the original and this is a perfect addition to the DVD as it helps the audience to understand just what happened 2 years prior to the events of the movie. The second disc has extras such as "making of" , deleted scenes , and a sneak peek at the upcoming Final Fantasy game : Dirge Of Cerberus. Overall , this is an excellent product that will not disappoint fans of the series and newcomers alike. 5/5

The cgi is the most up to dat i have ever seen! And for the final fantasy fans a must have! For those not so gened up it is still a fantastic watch. i was sceptical at first about buying it, but it has become number one place to watch. (seen about 16+ times now).

For those who loved the matrix this takes the moves and actions even further. The characters are great, especially Sephiroth who really has that dark aura and prescence going for him right down to the voice.

I havent watched in japanese only the English version but my other half tells me both are extremely well dubbed. BUY BUY IT NOW!

I bought this film after watching it at a friends house, and decided I just had to have my own copy! The CGI is amazing, along with the characters, music and storyline. Orignally created in Japan, you either have the option to watch it with subtitles or over dubbed. To be fair the dubbing isn't bad at all, infact it's quite believeable, and I thought that the subtitles ruined what the film was all about, the effects.
I have to say that although a background story is included on the DVD, for those that don't know what this film is a sequel to, it would be hard and confusing to watch it if you had no idea who Cloud or Aerith was, but if you're really into graphics then you wouldn't really care!
The story also has some comical elements, but again you can only really appreciate them if you have played the game. The music works really well, but that's probably because most of it does originate from the game that this film is based upon!
Frankly, I loved the film, and watched it twice in one day. It's one of those films that the more you watch it, the more you find. Some scenes just made my jaw drop, and I think that any film fan should definately have this in their DVD collection, it's one of it's kind.

I'm a fan of the game, so i liked the film anyways...
but it has some amazing CGI effects and a good storyline....
The one thing i love about this film is the effects as its whats draws you into the story.
What i dont like???.....mm probably the fact that theres no sequel to this film!

A MASSIVE departure from the last Final Fantasy film (Final Fantasy: Spirits Within), this is possibly one of the best 'animated' films ever created. Actually scratch that, it possibly one of the best FILMS ever created. Read on true believers...

****MAY CONTAIN SLIGHT SPOILERS!!!!****

Graphics (10/10): The most FANTASTIC graphics I have ever seen, so realistic that at points you will forget you're watching a CG movie. There is nothing that can be faulted in this department.

Action (10/10): Again, fantastically good. Completely OTT fight scenes + amazing graphics = FF7 fan boy's wet dream. Most notable fight scenes are the fight with a Bahamut type monster, the motorbike chase on the highway and the final battle with Kadaj and.... someone else ;o)

Story (7/10) Now, the reason for the 7 is that while the story itself is OK, there are a few plot holes and almost no back story for the 3 main bad guys. Now I can probably guess who they are and where they come from, but thats all, there is NO explanation as to if they really are more Sephiroth clones or something completely different. Also we don't get to find out where they got their neat toys from either (one has a GUNBLADE! Nice homage to FF8 there). Nevertheless, there are 2 main plots and while for the first half of the movie its a little hard to grasp whats going on, it does become clear by the middle of the movie, although by that time you'll be to busy picking your jaw up from the floor after seeing the amazing action (did I mention that already? Thought not)

Characters (8/10): Hmmm, little bit peeved here, but not too much. Of course Cloud and Tifa get covered pretty well, but the rest of the main characters don't really get much screen time. Vincent has a little more than the rest, but thats not saying much. Red XIII and Cait Sith come as pretty much one entity in this, Yuffie comes across as a dumb kid, Barret is pretty cool with his new hand gun and Cid doesn't really do much at all. President Rufus makes a return, along with Reno and Rude of the Turks, but those two seem to be pretty much comic relief. The other two Turks (can't remember their names at the moment) makes a very quick appearance near then end of the film. There are two other special appearances by Aeris and Zak throughout the film in some very touching moments.

Music (10/10): Ooooooh the music! So good I cried in some parts and creamed in the others lol. Seriously though, the music here is taken straight from the game and given a severe shot of juice up the a$$! The moment you hear the opening bars of JENOVA starting up you get a shiver run right through you (well, I did anyway), and when One Winged Angel kicks in... well, words cant describe it. At the other end of the spectrum, the piano tunes go right to the heart and flip all the right switches, I really did get tears in my eyes near the end of the film.

Overall (10/10): For me, this has instantly become one of my favourite films of all time. Non FF7 fans will probably not get it, but that may not mean they wont like it. I'm not gonna bother saying that anyone who wants to see it but hasn't played the game should research the background first, cuz I know that people wont. But I can pretty much guarantee that those people will look up the back story once the credits roll. Fans of the game, if you haven't already seen the movie, what the hell are you waiting for!? Go to it b!tches!

This film is fantastic - but really shines if you have played through all 50+ hours of the original Final Fantasy VII...

Also - it's much better than the other Final Fantasy movie they made! :D

i first played final fantasy 7 when i was about 11 years old and i loved it, it was the best game i ever played and still is and was anxiously waiting for a sequel to come out. The film is excellent, it really touches up on the game and the events that led to the film from the game.I throughly enjoyed this film especially how the directors touched up on important factors like the fragility of children and the emotions they go through. If you haven played the game then the film has a part called "the reminiscence of final fantasy 7" and that shows you the storyline from the game so you understand the film better. This is truly one of the best films i have seen so far. I cant stop watching it. 11/10

I wanted to buy this as i really like the franchise and so had to have the movie. I searched for it and easily found this one. It was cheap and it got to me really quick.

It is an excellent movie that if you know the Final Fantasy franchise you will absolutely love. Also for those who have the seen the first movie will love this movie too. If you are not familiar with this movie then its detailed story-line and amazing visual effects, as this movie is entirely in CG, will definitely interest anyone with an imaginative mind.

The movie is brilliant with excellent bonus features. It is a must have. Well, for me at least.

Brilliant CGI and fight scenes. Music is beautifully extracted from the game to create the feeling of nostalgia. All the nine main characters are featured in the movie and some more familiar characters too. The story line can go off a bit so it is well worth seeing the catch-up part of the DVD first. The film will be useless without fully knowing the background of the story from the game!

before last year i had never played a final fantasy game. i was always to busy or had no moneyor was trying to complete GTA again. well am sorry to say i wasted my time on the old classics. final fantasy is a genaration shattering idea. Advent children is a film based on final fantasy 7 featuring blondey emo cloud strife ,evil long haired radical sephiroth and of coarse new to the sereis the advent children among many other old freinds. the film is packed with action and hollywood defiying moments. although now aging the graphics in the film are stunning and takes animation to new hights. really the movie to watch for all the RPG fans out there. Oh yeah second disk is packed with cool stuff. Enjoy.

whether you are a ff7 fan or no this dvd is brilliant, the grafics are far superiour than any other animated dvd made. the story line ise awesome, who ever thought it up was a genius!!! this dvd is a must buy for any fan of ff7! it is in my oppinion the best film ever made! enjoy

although this is a strange film the graphics make it very impressive which is why i bought it i'm intrigued by special effects and watch all the behind the scenes footage to see how they do things.I'm not sure what the storyline is exactly as i was confused from the beginning to the end but the charcters are intresting i hope this helps

I decided to buy this item because i am very fond of the final fantasy games. I was very pleased with the film.. it was everything and more that i thought it would be! The film and action in it is fantastic.. And i love every part of it. I don't dislike anything about it and wouldn't be able to make it any better myself.

well id seen the film before at my brothers and had to buy it.
for anyone who loves anime/cgi animation and the final fantasy epic line of games then you will definately love this film

This film is one of my favorites in computerized films. The quality of the graphics are so good, the people almost look real! Every detail is shown in the clothes, the hair, the buildings, the vehicles and not to mention the complex designs on the weapons! >o<
Anyway, the storyline is quite good, it makes you want to cheer Cloud Strife on because he is suffering and you can see how much Tifa and his friends care for him.
The film is suitable for everyone as there are a mixture of different characters, from dark, mysterious and scary, to cheerful, bubbly and positive.
The only problem with this film is that it wouldn't be very clear to young children.

Best animated film I've seen in ages and for the storyline its good to but the only down side is the amount of action there isn't enough.

i bought this item for my 12 year old daughter and she loves it she watched every night for the 1st 8-10 days of gtting it and she still watches it 2-3 times a week great product

the animation in this game - linked film is amazing i challenge anyone to find better.
i absolutely loved the storyline all though a bit hard to follow for the younger children still very enjoyable and a credit to all involved.
a must for anyone who has played any of the final fantasy games and enjoyed the action and moralistic themes of there story lines.
