'How much do you know about yourself if you've never been in a fight' Tyler Durden

Okay so the first rule of fight club is that you must buy the fight club dvd and watch it. This is a good film. Norton and Pitt are both excellent, as is Helena Bonham Carter as the love interest in this pyschotic tale of brutal one upmanship. Essentially a buddy movie with flying fists and kicks to the groin in spades this is well written and well shot (from the director of se7en). A clever and darkly funny watchable movie that, although primarily set in the underground world of no bars one one fights, is not a movie that is too testosterone stuffed to only be attractive to a male audience. The pyschology, the interaction between the characters and the twisty plot should make this a winner for anyone who watches it.

This is a great comedy for the first 20 minutes, with some great gems after that too. I would love to remake this film, taking out the strong language, wooden acting and attempts at pornography. The film will stand very well without these aspects which are thrown in at random.

As it is, if you are not a 14 year old male, you are not likely to want to watch it again.

Fight Club - didn't want to watch this but loved it!
Review created: 25/11/08

I had a bad attitude towards this film. Never fancied it at all due to the 'fighting'! Even when it was recommended as an excellent film I didn't go for it.

Anyway, ended up watching it on TV by accident and have now bought it to watch again. I was channel hopping and Edward Norton came on and I really rate him as an actor and it seemed interesting. So I kept watching and it was really gripping. It was only a while later I discovered what I was watching and by then I was well and truly hooked. OK so I don't like fighting, and had to look away from the screen occasionally - but don't make the mistake of assuming this is what the film is about. To me it represents people finding ways of coping with their mundane unbearable existence - although most people don't go to the lengths Edward Norton goes to!

The plot is excellent, with unexpected twists and turns, some funny, some sad. Edward Norton really good in his deadpan way. The scene where he finally lets his boss know his true feelings is fantastic - we'd all like to do that!

Well apart from Brad Pitt walking around without his top on for most of the DVD which is obviously what every girl wants to see, the story is exciting. its a great DVD to watch with your man as he'll love the fighting while you'll just love Brad.

  Fight Club (2004)
Review created: 31/03/08

The script was tight, the theme fascinating, the acting incredible (especially Edward Norton, as one might expect), the direction inspired, and the cinematography stunning. It is one of the few films of the past five years that deserves to be seen multiple times. In fact, if you have seen it only once, you have missed something. I was seriously hoping the movie would receive Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Norton), Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Picture.

So, how is it that the film received no nominations? Unfortunately, it had a mismatched ad campaign. The ads made it seem like the movie was about street boxing, instead of a intellectual and emotional ride through a man's psyche as he takes a strange path toward rebellion against consumer society. As a result, most who went to see it were disappointed, and those who would recognize its brilliance stayed far away from the movie theaters. This is one of the most underrated movies I know.

I always love movies that keep you entertained and keep you guessing, and this movie scores a 10 in both.

  MUST SEE
Review created: 27/11/07

Ultimately, please consider this review as a tiny indication of the hours of added features that are available from the DVD set.

Firstly, if you still can't understand why that eager salesman was so keen to sell you a sub woofer, or why you should even own said device, then rest assured that the "Fight Club" DVD is here to help. The THX-approved 5.1 sound mix will rip the guts out of your previously dormant rumble box and pull you and your neighbours through the floor.

And secondly, the picture is pretty nice too.

But if multiple angles turn you on then "Fight Club" can again help you out. Simply load up the second disc and delve into the world of 'behind the scenes' with a load of extras that deconstruct everything from the film's advertising to false breasts, gun shots, sex scenes, blowing up buildings, and so much more. And loads of these features come with multiple angles, commentaries, and audio options.

In short, "Fight Club" on DVD is a button-frenzy of extra features that will test even the sternest of home entertainment fingers.

Ratio: 2.40:1
Sound: Dolby Digital 5.1
Extra Features: Scene selection, commentary track including David Fincher, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, 17 'behind the scenes vignettes with multiple angles and commentary, outtakes, deleted scenes, storyboards, publicity gallery, concept art, animated menus, hidden extras, multiple languages, subtitles, English for the hearing impaired.

I loved it. Classic Film. A great performance from both actors as this thrilling movie keeps you on the edge of your seat! Philosophy can be interesting this film is a proof. I watched it 4 times and will watch it many times more. They do not make that many movies like this.
