I watched this when it first came out and I was expecting not to like it...oh how I was wrong!!! This is a fab film with great visuals, a brilliant cast, script and of course direction from Luc Besson. The costumes are outrageous, having been designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The characters are great and I love Gary Oldman as the villain. Chris Tucker puts in another trademark motor-mouthed and very camp performance and his hair is suitably justified (wink wink!)This film pushes all the right buttons. You won't get bored because it simply won't allow you to as there's always something going on. There's even a nice little nod to Blade Runner with its' flying cars and never ending sky scrapers. Top drawer entertainment.

  The Fifth Element
Review created: 27/09/07
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

In the year 2257, a planet-sized sphere of supreme evil is approching the Earth at relentless speed, threatening to exterminate every living organism unless four ancient stones, representing the elements of earth, wind, fire and water are united with the mysterious "fifth element".

From Luc Besson, the acclaimed director of "Leon" and "Nikita" comes a film that turns sciene fiction inside out.
Starring Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman and Milla Jovovich, The Fifth Element takes you on an adrenalin-filled journey to a new dimension of suptuous visuals, stunt-packed set-pieces and spectacular explosions.

This movie is an all time great.
It's one of my favourites, and Chris Tucker is so, so funny in this.
The acting, direction, script and costumes (designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier) are all very slick.
A must see!

  Fifth Element - First Rate

Have seen this film on TV loads of times, but had to get it on DVD. Quite simply magnificent. Bruce Willis plays the downtrodden Joe whose life is transformed when Mila Jovovich drops into his airborne taxicab. A 'life and death of the universe' struggle ensues with hilarious comic scenes. Gary Oldman is suitably sinister as the bad guy (along with the global military) and Chris Tucker gives a storming performance as the camper-than-a-row-of-pink-tents Ruby Rock, TV presenter and compere. Costumes are Jean-Paul Gaultier at his most unrestrained. Lots of shooting, comedy and laughs, Luc Besson's direction gives the film a cracking pace. One to watch again and again...

Review created: 10/01/07

I bought this DVD as a Christmas present. We had already as a family watched it at the Cinema and thought it fantastic with Bruce Willis. The Fifth Element is a great a action film, and absolutely hilarious. Chris tucker is fantastic in it, alongside Bruce Willis as the hero of the film. I would definately recommend getting the special edition dvd, as it's packed with loads of extras!
I would definately recommend it to everyone.
A visual feast combining ancient mysticism, cyberpunk sensibilities, flamboyant entertainment personalities, and gun-toting alien mercenaries. In the 23rd century, Korben Dallas, an ex-special forces agent who now practices as a down-and-out cabbie, finds himself caught in a struggle to defy a prophesied Evil from destroying the Earth when a mysterious woman falls into the back seat of his cab. Pursued by both the government and a powerful magnate enlisted by the forces of Evil, the woman is the key to Earth's salvation, known only as the Fifth Element.

  Classic sci-fi for your collection!

Without a doubt this is one of the great, timeless sci-fi classics and deserves a place on the shelf next to Star Wars and the Matrix. A masterpiece of imagination created by Luc Besson which also includes a lot of well placed humour which makes this movie even more unique, giving us an impression of the future without the ‘dark side’.

  a sci-fi cult favourite !

Classic Sci-fi romp, but with a good sprinkling of action. Bruce willis playing his usual tough but good humoured hero, but with a strong female lead and the anarchic humour provided by Chris Rock - well worth a look. It will never equal Star Wars or LOTR, but a good addition to any sci-fi fan's dvd collection.

I have seen the film and thought the music was particulary good, so I can watch it a number of times even if just for the sound track. I have started a collection of the best sci-fi films and this will add to it. Ebay is a brilliant way to have an occassional search for titles of films and musicians.

  The Fifth Element
Review created: 09/08/07

This film is quick paced action filled sci-fi with a quirky sense of humour throughout. Its one of my favourite films.

The cast help to make it great with Bruce Willis playing his usual role (what hes good at) and Gary Oldman being evil which of course hes very good at. Also Mila joc..(cant spell)...avich is amazingley beautiful in this film, she could actually be the supreme being.

A good cast, great special effects and a brilliant storyline combine in the Fifth Element to create a truly excellent film.

If you like films like starship troopers or general sci-fi/action this film is a must. However if your a very factual down to earth person you may not fully appreciate this film.

I would definately recommend getting the special edition dvd, as it's packed with loads of extras!
The only problem is, it's really hard to watch on the pc as the main menu is rather difficult to use with a mouse. Other than that, it's a great dvd. And i definately would recommend it to anyone!

This is quite possibly one the best Sci-Fi flicks you're ever likely to see! A completely underated movie that deserves so much more merit. The combination of special effects and comedy mixed with a frought and poigniant plot works wonderfuly and truely has to be marveled at. Big names like Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman & Milla Jovovich all gel excelently throughout the film with a host of cameos and bit parts from other actors and celebs from around the world. A wicked soundtrack also accompanies this hit movie.
