The Last Bastion of proper Trance
This compilation marks, in my opinion, the last of the epic Trance era from 1996-2003. A solid gold mix from Ferry Corsten as always still starts to show the influence of cheese and lacklustre trash that rendered the semi-commercial scene embarrassing.
Disc 1 almost recaptures the persistent, mesmerising energy that I've only ever found in Trance Nation vol 1, Disc 1 and "Pure" Euphoria - Storm, Darude, Hi-Gate, William Orbit, Lost Witness and more.
Disc 2 goes on a slightly trippy kick blending Josh Wink's nerve-pounding "How's Your Evening So Far?" into Delerium/Sarah McLachlan's "Silence" then into Sister Bliss.
You can't Beat Trance Nation 1 and "Pure" Euphoria, but this is close.
