I bought it for my grand-daughter, but was disappointed to find that the DVD supplied was almost certainly a pirate copy. I wish that E Bay would act in such cases.

Fantasia is an unusual film - very few films have been made of the same genre and at the time it was very revolutionary, in a word. Even today, it stands out as a peculiar title for a film, but what makes this film special is that it makes this odd genre work.

Combining the classic characters from Walt Disney, and classic compositions from J S Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven, this film gives a visual interpretation of these classical songs, by using the famous characters such as Mickey Mouse.

Admittedly, it is a very long film, and for those who are not a big fan of classical music, this film may not be very pleasing. However, if you love classical music, then this film will surely give you a different viewpoint on how certain people can interpret music.

As a guideline, I wouldn't say that if you put this film in front of a toddler, they will sit there attentively until you return. Although you would be surprised. This film is however, recommended for all age groups, although personally, the older generation may appreciate this a lot more. Nevertheless, a thoroughly enjoyable film. A must-see of an unknown genre

This film was not popular when first released but over the years, as classical music became more accessible to everyone AND pieces became familiar via background music in adverts etc, so the popularity of Fantasia grew. The animation is exqusite and the imagination of the animators was ahead of its time - hippos in tutus???? AND Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerors Apprentice has to be one of the most memorable pieces of animation ever. I am a big fan of early Disney and wholeheartedly recommend this DVD of Fantasia to everyone - (even those who think they din't like classical music!)

I first recall seeing this marvellous work as a boy and was left disappointed - having viewed it as a man I only now even begin to appreciate the wonder of what was surely Disneys 'Magnus Opus.' The incluson of Debussy's Claire de Lune is a masterstroke; this segment is worth the purchase price alone and represents a triumph of lasting importance. It is as if the music was written around the action rather than vice-versa. What a delight. Truly a joy to see and hear.

I love Fantasia because it has amazing animation to match the music of old and new. A timeless classic that people will continue to watch and re-watch for may years to come.

Fantasia has always enthralled me, even when I was young. It's visually stunning and removes itself from the sacharin sweet 'Disney' which seems abundant nowadays.

Difficult to comment reall as I only bought this as a gift for my granddaughter. I did not play it before I gave it to her, but the original film i saw and it is one of Disney's greats. I only hope that she enjoys it as much as I have in the past.
It is a pity that the modern Disney company has made the DVD so unattainable and indeed unaffordable for many by small releases to jack the price up.

I've always loved Fantasia, and when this originally came out in 2000 I went to see it on an IMAX screen. Wow! Obviously it's not the same on a TV, but the matching of images and music is fabulous. It's hard to understand why Disney deleted the title, but thank heavens for Ebay!

The classic that Disney started with starring Mickey Mouse in 'The Scorcerer's Apprentice'. This is by far the best Disney short film cartoon. It also has a short introduction before the beginning of each instrumental.

This product is truely amazing. Not only do you get to enjoy the music in all its digitalised glory but also a wonderful clear picture. Fantasia is a golden classic, and i love it! It's really enjoyable and when i watched it in my youth i learnt a lot from it as well. The part with the beginning of the world made me want to know more about science and there's also religious, sorcery and mythological acts as well. And because its on dvd, there is a new piece, the clare de lune, which isnt on the original. And it was magnificant! I would definitely recommend this to any cartoon, disney, music or art lover. In fact its for everyone of all ages!

The dvd had to be returned as it did not work in any dvd player. I bought another dvd at the same time although it worked, it was very poor quality and the sound was not in time with picture..............................................................................................................................

What I liked,was the complecity and simplicity of the movie.A friend of mine lend me a fantasia VHS and after watched it decided to buy the DVD.My son fell in love with it and couldn't get him off the sofa.It never crossed my mind he will like it cos of the classical stuff you know.Everyone should own a copy.

I have just bought a fake fantasia 2000 dvd from ebay. I really wanted the dvd because the bonus feature is "toot, whistle, plunk and boom" which i really really wanted to watch. On receiving the dvd, it had chinese writing on it and would not let me play the bonus features and definitely a fake. How do sellers get away with selling things like this. I checked back on their feedback, as they had 386 for the last month and managed to find that they have done this plenty of times before and it looks like they have got away with it. I only read all these reviews after my purchase. It's so upsetting!

turned out to be a fake, felt ripped off, then found out that the sellers account had been removed so couldn't contact the bastard.

I bought this DVD for my grand-children and was assured it would play on my region 2 player. Unfortunately this was not the case but the seller was sympathetic and instantly returned my money.

Disney's classic released in 1941 with a sequel Fantasia 2000 released in, guess what, 2000! The original DVD release of both movies was in 2000 and subsequently withdrawn leaving the pirates free to flood the market with poor quality fake DVDs. If you're buying, make sure you purchase an authentic version, as displayed in my guide, that has the Disney hologram.

Review
Unlike most movies Fantasia has no story. This groundbreaking feature comprises eight segments of classical music played by the Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by the renowned Leopold Stokowski with Disney animators creative interpretations of the classical pieces. The result is some beautiful animation and an explosion of colour that is as vibrant today as it was since it's theatrical release in 1940. The most recognised segment is Mickey Mouse in Paul Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice where an eager student tries his Master's sorcerer's hat and assumes his powers ....only to make a complete mess. The fit between animation and music is just perfect. Fantasia won an honorary Academy Award in 1942 for the following:

I loved this film as a child and am in the process of getting all films I had on video on DVD. This sounded even better on DVD and I have watched it several times since i got it. It's a classic and the re-mastered graphics lived up to my expectations. I also loved the extra 'behind-the-scenes' documentary.

Amazing what you discover on Ebay. You can buy a a conterfeited DVD, made by criminals, sold by criminals - and no one cares! Both Ebay and Paypal won't talk to you in person. Their contact proformas do not allow you to tell them it's a fake, or to register police numbers etc. They just keep telling you to send it back to the crinimal you bought it from. They even let them sell more goods on auction, to other suckers like you. Paypal have no systems to repay you unless you send it back to the crinimal and Ebay ask you to write a review of an illegal DVD! How cute.

Think buying on Ebay through Paypal protects you against fraud? Think again.

Oh, and it was a very bad fake!

I've always wanted to see Fantasia and when I bought it on ebay I thought I was buying a cd. Silly me. Anyway, depite the sound being a little wobbly it's a lovely video and the visual effects are wonderful.Walt Disney was a genius IMO.
