Family guy has not won two emmy's for nothing,
Some people say its cross between "the simpsons" and "south park" and if you like them you'll love this.

Season five has some classic episodes such as: barley legal and saving private brian. this has to be my favourite season as the animation has improved and the episodes are funnier than ever.
Well worth the money if you thinking of buying it,

what more can i say? oh yeah LUCKY THERES A FAMILY GUY!

Family Guy - Series 5 - Complete (DVD)

The ratio of bad to good episodes wasn't too favorable in this season of Family Guy. Far too many episodes were either seriously lacking in humor or were just plain poorly written. However, there were a few rare flashes of brilliance that managed to demonstrate that not all of the creative spark was expended during the pre-cancellation days. Episodes such as "Saving Private Brian," "Chick Cancer," "Road to Rupert," and "No Meals on Wheels" served to illustrate that that there are still some great shows to be made.

The best Family Guy episodes usually feature a carefully crafted balance of a zany story, mixed in with a serious serving of cultural references, and a small number of manatee jokes thrown in to round things out. Along the way, the writers use the show as a medium to make fun of every ethnic group and other minority imaginable. It's meant to be universally politically incorrect, in a way that's supposed to make the audience laugh awkwardly. It's supposed to be mindless, inoffensively offensive fun with no political intentions or motivations other than sheer entertainment.

Unfortunately, there were several episodes that were used as platforms to make political attacks and statements. There's nothing wrong with making fun of politicians in a comedy - it's usually the most entertaining part of any segment. It's just that in a couple of episodes, namely "Boys Do Cry" and "It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One," felt like they went out of the way to make political statements - at the expense of humor. "Boys Do Cry," in particular, was too political and for the most part, simply not funny.
On the other hand, there was a great episode, "Bill and Peter's Bogus Journey," that featured an over-the-top parody of Bill Clinton that managed to mock the former President, without resorting to personal attacks, and it wasn't done at the expense of telling a story.

Bad political jokes aside; there were a few highlights and original ideas this season. Brian's new girlfriend Jillian, portrayed by Drew Barrymore, was a great addition as a recurring character that provides a lot of material for Stewie and Brian to work with.

The giant chicken also made a comeback this season, appearing in two episodes, "No Chris Left Behind" and "Meet the Quagmires." The chicken's first appearance of the season featured the customary extended fight sequence. This year's battle was definitely the longest and quite possibly the most elaborate yet.

Visually, one of the funniest moments of the season was from "No Meals on Wheels," when Joe and his paraplegic friends merged transformed into a giant Voltron-like robot form called "Cripple-Tron," complete with men on wheelchair as ammunition.

The season finale, "Meet the Quagmires," featured an extended parody of Back to the Future, set in 1984. It also served as a slightly unremarkable return of "Death." Those who grew up in the '80s would really like the extensive cultural references in this episode, which also featured a great musical number to the tune of a Rick Astley song.
There was a time when Family Guy was one of the most creative and funniest shows on television. During the pre-cancellation days, this was a show that was not to be missed. While much of the original appeal seems to have washed-off, there are still a few moments from this season that really stand out. Next season's premiere looks extremely promising, with a long retelling of the original Star Wars film that will definit

Family Guy is amazing. It finds the humour not only in family situations but also mocking celebrities. Not since The Simpsons has a series made me want to watch episodes over and over again until i can practically quote every episode off by heart.

Family guy is the funniest cartoon tv series i have ever seen. Fron season 1 to season 5 i found it to be incredibly funny! Season 5 has some truly classic episodes that will literally make your sides split with laughter! Some people have said that season 5 was running out of ideas. But i disagree and think season 5 has some of the funniest episodes throughout the whole family guy series. Buy this please, then laugh until you cannot laugh anymore!

Why everyone should own Family Guy season 5
Review created: 17/09/09
by:

It's simple.....Family Guy. What more could any comedy lover want. Anyone who has seen or loves Family Guy already will only revel in the continued hilarity of this series. This season features some of the best episodes seen yet including:- Peter starting his own TV station to avoid the FCC's censorship, creating his own religion that worships the Fonze from Happy Days and playing football for THE New England Patriots. Also see Quagmire actually get married and Stewie sucked through a TV into the spirit world in a Poltergeist parody. 14 episodes of your favourite animated comedy for a fantastic price. How could you resist?
