Fantastic results from this little Gem of a camera

I decided to buy this camera after using a Sony CD Mavica for years, and finding it difficult to get hold of discs. So the Sony went on ebay and I started looking for alternatives.
I was attracted to this camera as it looks like a "proper" SLR digital camera. I bought it from an excellent ebayer who posted it quickly and it arrived in good condition a couple of days later.
The first impression is that it is smaller than you'd think, taking the SLR style, but smaller and lighter. One of the most notable aspects is that the camera feels a bit light, and plastic. Don't let that put you off; further investigation and experimentation soon produce stunning results that make the appearance and feel of the camera immaterial.
This camera has a lot of high end camera features, shutter speed, exposure etc, and a great fast shooting mode where you keep your finger on the shutter and it takes multiple shots, great for capturing the antics of my oldest on his skateboard.
I'm still getting to grips with the many settings and features, but for the less competent the auto setting is incredible for general everyday stuff. I'd highly recommend this camera for those who intend to take a little more than just point and press family shots. The quality of the images captured is stunning. There are a whole range of add on lenses and filters which screw on to the existing lense. Mine came with a 2x Telephoto lense which when used with the fast shooting mode caught some excellent shots at my daughters sports day. My advice when using the camera for longer distance shots is either use a tripod (not that practical) or turn off the external screen and switch to eye piece mode, this forces you to hold the camera in a more steady way and I found there was less camera wobble, producing better pictures.
When choosing a digital camera it is easy to be seduced by newer cameras with higher pixel ratings....DON'T! I tried many other cameras from friends and workmates, some with more than 20 mega pixels...they didn't get the pictures you'd expect. The reason for this is the lense. A 10 mega pixel camera with a tiny 1cm (wide) lense only takes in a small amount of light. The lense on this Fuji is wider and takes more in. Then it processes the image with the amazing Fuji CCD chip, which they use on all the models, including some very expensive professional ones.
You can pick up one of these cameras on ebay now for around £150, they're worth every penny
