FUJIFILM FinePix S100FS Digital Camera

THIS CAMERA IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC IT IS SO EASY TO USE BUT HAS ALL THE FEATURES SHOULD YOU WANT TO EXPERIMENT.
DIGITAL SLRS ARE VERY HARD TO JUSTIFY IN TERMS OF COST IF ITS FUN INSTANT OUT OF THE BOX PHOTOGRAPHY YOU WANT. YOU DONT NEED TO BE A WIZZ AT CHANGING EXPENSIVE LENSES, GETTING ALL THE RIGHT SETTINGS, BUT IT PERFORMS LIKE A PRO.YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT CARRYING ALL THE EXTRA GIZMOS AROUND.
IT LOOKS THE BUSINESS TO BUT DONT JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT CHECK OUT ALL THE EXPERT VIEWS REGARDING THIS CAMERA AND IF YOU DO DECIDE TO BUY ONE YOU WONT REGRET ONE MINUTE ITS BRILLIANT.

Great camera, very easy to use takes good quality pictures. You can take a good varity of distance shots without having to change the lens for any distance shots. A good all round camera.

Having been used to Canon SLRs over the years, the switch to digital was a bit difficult. I found the sensor dust problem to be the 'Achilles heel' of the digital SLRs. So since being 'blown away' by the quality of the photos I was getting from the first Fuji camera I had, an S7000Z, I have stuck with Fuji 'bridge' cameras and have never been disappointed. The latest, the S100FS continues to please. Build quality is good, the lens is great and the 2.5" tilting LCD screen is great for those very low down or high up shots. There are so many features..too many to list. The only downside is the weight. It's about 25% heavier than my last camera, an S9600, but I'm beginning to get used to that. The zoom lens goes from 28mm to 400mm (35mm equiv.) and seems to be good at both ends. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this machine.

All the other reviews slating Digital SLR's should understand what they are talking about before they start saying that they are overpriced.

Yes, the S100FS is a GOOD camera, but thats it, it's no match for a DSLR. I've gone from the camera to a Nikon D700 with another £1200 worth of glass and I can assure anyone that the difference is staggering. Alot of noise of the S100FS, fringing and general colour anomalies. Its ok for a £300 camera, but dont compare it to £3k cameras or even £500 DSLRS, there is no comparison!

Cons

Lens is ok, not great but ok, fringing, chromatic abberations galore
Slow to record images
Usless electronic viewfinder and pretty low res display
plasticky build, well built but plasticky
You get what you pay for, don't buy this if you're serious about your images!

Great camera, lovely pics! Lots of manual tinkering is possible if you fancy or you can just point and shoot with stunning results!
Was using a DSLR but carrying 3 lenses and other accessories was starting to become a pain in the arse! This camera has most of the functionality of a mid-range DSLR with just one wide focal range lens, means the sensor wont get dusty either because of the fixed lens!

An excellent camera, You can find on the web many excellent technical reviews for this camera, but Speaking as a layman.
At around £300 on Ebay for a new one. You cannot go wrong with this camera. The quality of the photos are brilliant and the controls are easy to use.
Though due to its size it is not very portable.
I can certainly recommend this camera to a serious amateur photographer.

Very pleased with my purchase, Prompt delivery,( just what it said on the tin,) I was looking for a good fixed zoom camera and the FUJIFILM FinePix S100 Digital Camera ticks all the boxes, I am glad I chose it.
