FUJIFILM FinePix F480 Digital Camera

I bought this camera after losing my Panasonic Lumix. I chose it because it was the cheapest decent brand compact zoom I could find with a 28mm equivalent wide angle zoom.

I use the camera in my work - I record before and after images of interior home improvements (hence the need for the wide angle). I also used it on a recent ski holiday and it coped fine with the challenges of bright white glare.

Pros:

Wide angle zoom lens.
Ease of use - simple and intuitive.
Picture quality. Every bit as good as the Panasonic Lumix that was twice the price!
Value for money.
Size. Neat and compact but still easy to handle.
Good package includes case.
Battery life. Excellent.

Cons:

The plastic feel to the body is clearly where Fuji have saved some cost. Time will tell how well it bears up to wear & tear.

Summary:

At the typical price for this model (probably less than £100 in most cases) I have no hesitation in recommending it to any beginner or slightly more experienced user - if you want a wide angle I don't see any other coming close.

I lost one of these cameras and therefore decided to buy another as soon as possible. Now I have a load of spare items but only one camera, but I am not worried as I have a good what I descibe as " a piont and click " camera. I am not a professional so I buy a good quality camera at a resonable price.

Fantastic quality photos and video quality is good too. Will take a 4GB SDHC card, which lets you store hundreds of photos without changing the card or deleting photos.

An excellent camera from a top manufacturer. It boasts excellent features from fully automatic point and shoot to a range of adjustable scene modes. I especially love the warm colours in Sunset mode.
The video feature is good quality.
This camera is an excellent entry-level model for a novice with easy-to-use functions, yet a satisfying range of use for the more experienced photographer.
The rechargeable battery is long-lasting.
Highly recommended.

The camera is a prescant for my wife. She already has a Finepix 2200 but she often comlaines that in poor light it can be dificult to see your subject through the displalay screen.
So my reasons for choosing the Fuji Finepix F480. was the large 2.7 screen although it is a much smaller unit, Opticl as well as digita zoom and higher quality photographs from 8.2 Mega pixels. The Rechargeable NI-40N gives longer life but is smaller and lighter than the 4 tripple A's used in the old camers. And finaly, although the F480 has lots more features and functions the controles are set out and operate in a very simmiler way to the old 2200. So all the family just continue to grab point and shoot with the new camera as we did with the old one.

The camera is pretty good once you work out how to use it. It is fairly simple to use and an added bonus of having its own rechargable battery so you don't have to keep on buying new ones. The glare from sunlight can be annoying when you are looking at the lcd screen and some times pictures can look bad on the lcd screen but actually when they are on the computer they are pretty good.I took a close up picture of a tortoise in the macro setting and the detail was amazing the 8 mega pixels really lives up to its name.

This is a fantastic camera, great for all purposes. 8 mega pixels with a 4x optical Zoom, you could not ask for more at this price. Great service also with fast delivery i received my camera 24 hours after purchase. Great purchase, one not to miss.

I have owned & used a f480 for about a year.While it has to be said that my photographic requirements are not extensive. The 480 does a fine job of all that I require of it.My purchase of a second camera was to make a practical gift to a friend who has shown considerable interest in the results I've had with mine.

This is a fantastic little compact camera that gives crisp clear pictures. It is small and compact with a very powerful flash. It takes great video clear and smooth. The only thing that could be improved is that when recording video it would be nice to be able to zoom in and out. And stereo sound would be good.
But all in all a beautifully made all metal camera that feels nice in the hand.

I bought this camera for a friend who needed a very small digital camera (for portability) but with reasonable resolution. She is also something of a technophobe and was convinced that she would struggle to learn how to use a digital camera.
I chose this camera as it really is compact, yet the controls are laid out so that you dont feel it is too tiny when you are using it. When you select the various functions the display briefly tells you what the fuction is used for. A kind of idiots guide....
Within a day she was taking photos, deleting the obvious muck ups and generally familiarising herself with the controls by checking back with the manual provided.
By the end of the week she had over 120 excellent photos and was confident she could use most of the functions without needing the guide. DOwnloading to the computer is really easy and all cables are provided.
It may not be the latest technology, have the highest resolution or the most complex functions, but it is an really good beginners camera with all the basics covered, portraits, scenic, zoom, macro and even video clips.
