Glen Canyon, Arizona, the present day. The impact of a meteorite changes the life of biology teacher Dr. Ira Kane and geology teacher Harry Block from Glen Canyon Community College when he manages to take a sample. Soon, he discovers a slimy blue fluid coming out of the meteorite. Shortly after, he realises that cells within the meteorite evolve at an incredible rate. What appears to be a sure thing for the Nobel Prize soon develops into a nightmare: By evolving and adapting at that unbelievably fast rate, the aliens start spreading out, leading to destruction and the involvement of the military.

A meteor hits Earth - bringing with it some aggressively hideous aliens - in this special effects comedy. Great hit with teen audiences. Stars David Duchovny and Julianne Moore.

The director of Ghostbusters takes you on an evolutionary roller coaster ride with big laughs and even bigger special effects in Evolution.
Starring David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, Seann William Scott and four time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore.

College teachers Ira Kane (Duchovy) and Harry Block (Jones) are inadvertently called to the site of a meteorite crash where they discover a variety of single-cell alien life forms.
Government scienst Allison Reed (Moore) gets involoved and goes head to head with the local scientific duo. But when the alien cells begin evolving at an alarming rate and the monstrous creatures they become threaten the future of the human race, they find themselves playing on the same team.
It's Darwin's biggest nightmare and survival of the fittest in the funniest, wildest comedy of the year!

  Appropriate title

Very original, light-hearted comedy with some tongue-in-cheek humour. Three contrasting styles of humour from the main characters, (slightly unexpected from David Duchovny.)
The comments and banter between the scientists and army are very funny. Orlando Jones plays a college science teacher called Harry Block, and he is very funny throughout the film - from trying to sound knowledgable and important, to insulting Julianne Moore's character Alison Reed!
The funniest scene is when Harry Block has been "entered" by one of the aliens and the medics are trying to extract it! Its hillarious. And these aliens are finally defeated- Not by Sigourney Weaver with a flame thrower or mechanical robot, but by shampoo!!
A highly recommended purchase, which works on two levels. Children and adults will find this an entertaining film.

PB

I had seen this film on rental and liked it so I had a look on ebay to purchase it. I was a bit dubious because I don't normally buy dvds this way as the risk of getting a copy is quite high. However, I was extremely pleased with this genuine copy. The dvd was in excellent condition as was the case and the picture quality.

One seriously funny film, one you can easily watch time and time again. David Duchovny, Julianne Moore and Seann William Scott star in this fast paced roller coaster ride, full of crazy alien monsters trying to take over the world.

  Evolution - Funny and Differant
Review created: 10/04/09

Although it has not got the best plot or narritive structure, this film does have a lot of belly laughs. Although the main comedien in the film is without a doubt Sean William Scott we see a hugely funny performance from Orlando Jones. He steals the show with great comic timing and brilliant one liners. His facial expression were also top notch. Overall a 7/10.

If you like really stupid "in your face" humour then you'll love this film.It has an all star cast that prove they can laugh at themselves because it's so ludicrous,..you simply have to enjoy it. Well worth a watch if you've got a spare couple of hours.

Daft movie departure for David Duchovny after his X-Files days... however, it does demonstrate he can play roles other than the one he became typecast with during the 1990's.

  Great Comedy

Duchovny is a bit monotoned and straight for my tastes in a comedy but somehow he pulls this one off. For the scene that made me belly-laugh a solid 10 minutes out loud in the cinema, look out for the hospital scene - comedy gold!

If you loved Ghostbusters, you'll love Evolution.

Evolution is a comedy in the same vein as Ghostbusters - actually, it's pretty much Ghostbusters with science instead of Ghosts, with David Duchovney playing the part of Ira Kane, a disgraced ex-army scientist who now works at an Arizona college - a character that is on par with that of Bill Murray's Dr Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters.
The script is dry and funny, Duchovney is at his snarky best and although the end is a bit random, to say the least (yes, even more random than a 300ft marshmallow man rampaging through the streets of Manhattan) you'll forgive it as Evolution has a great cast and is genuinely sweet, funny and silly in the best sense of the word.

  Evolution
Review created: 06/02/08

When a meteor crashes into the Arizona desert, local community college professors Ira Kane and Harry Block are shocked to discover that it has introduced rapidly evolving aliens to Earth. Although the professors try to keep their discovery a secret, the U.S. military takes over the investigation, sealing off the fantastic creatures and the environment that the aliens have established. But when aliens start popping up on nearby golf courses and in the local mall, it's up to Kane and Block to save the world. With a little help from Allison Reed, a clumsy scientist with the Center for Disease Control, and Wayne Green, a dim-witted country club pool manager and fireman-wannabe, the two professors devise a plan using an unlikely weapon to kill the alien population before it wipes out the human race.
